All About ‘The Movie Critic’
Still looking for buyers, Quentin Tarantino has finished working on a script called ‘The Movie Critic‘ according to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter. Currently in the nasal stages of development, ‘The Movie Critic’ is said to take place in late 1970s Los Angeles. The film will have a female lead at its center. There is no other information about the movie, but the title alludes to Tarantino paying tribute to Pauline Kael.
Pauline Kael was a famous film critic who wrote for The New Yorker from 1968 to 1991. She was known for her “witty, biting, highly opinionated and sharply focused” reviews. Quentin Tarantino ranks her high on the pantheon of his heroes. Her review of the Jean Luc Goddard’s ‘Band Of Outsiders’ helped him identify the cinematic language he wished to see in his movies. Since Tarantino has massive respect for her, his final film could be a tribute to the critic that made him.

Quentin Tarantino’s ‘The Movie Critic’ Will Be His 10th And Final Movie
In a perfect world, Quentin Tarantino keeps making movies. But this isn’t that world, and Tarantino isn’t budging from his directorial retirement. For a long time, he’s been clear about his plans to retire from film directing. He believes movie making is a young man’s game, saying directors start doing work they don’t stand by to keep going. Quentin Tarantino doesn’t want that kind of career for himself.
He’s one of the few directors with flawless filmography. Naturally, he wants to go out on a perfect note. It doesn’t mean he’s getting out of the game. The filmmaker has written a novelization of his 2019 film ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood‘ and a film theory non-fiction bestseller ‘Cinema Speculation‘ in 2022. He co-hosts the ‘The Video Archives’ podcast with Roger and Gala Avery. At ‘Two Bears One Cave,’ he told Tom Segura he had written a television series.
