Making someone smile is a natural way of finding happiness. We don’t know what a person is going through, so small acts of kindness can often have a much bigger impact than we realize. TikTok and other social media platforms often promote and amplify such good deeds and motivate others to be kind.
One TikTok user witnessed a random act of kindness for a Starbucks barista, which instantly changed the employee’s view on life. You might want to keep a few tissues handy.
A Great Act Of Kindness
Charlie Rocket, a TikTok user, shared a clip of a touching encounter between the barista and a customer. The video rapidly went viral, garnering over 36 million views since it was first shared.
Perri pulled up to the Starbucks drive-thru with her companion. Rather than immediately placing their coffee orders and leaving, the two women decided to learn about their server’s life goals and challenges.
In response, the Starbucks barista, who goes by the moniker “Manny,” said he wanted to buy a car, a dream that will set him back about $1,000.
However, he went on to say that he suffers from depression as well. The two girls warned Manny that they “may see [him] around” after hearing his story.
The video then switched to multiple views of them exiting the drive-through and heading to the store to prepare a special surprise for Manny.
“We were really inspired by your story… We wanted to get you a little something,” said Perri before delivering a bouquet they purchased for Manny.
“Thank you so much. I’ve never gotten flowers before.” Manny said this with a heartfelt smile. And, as they offered him the rest of his gift, his amazement grew even more.
He joyfully opened the box containing the tiny toy car, and his small smile quickly transformed into tears of joy when he found $1,000 inside.
“This morning, I had suicidal thoughts…and I just didn’t feel like waking up,” Manny said with tears still running down his cheeks. “Thank you so much.”
“You’re so loved,” the kindhearted girl responded. “The light will shine on your face again.”
Tiktok Star Starts A Campaign To Raise More Money
The compassionate women not only gave Manny $1,000, but they also started a campaign to help him raise the remainder of the money he needs to buy a good car. The fund’s initial aim was set at $15,000. However, by the end of the fundraiser, they had more than doubled their goal, raising $38,572 in total.
Many people in the comments were moved to tears by the life-changing act of compassion, with many stating that it “moved them to tears.” Several people even shared their mental health challenges to show support for the brave Starbucks employee.
Manny, on the other hand, was probably certainly the one who was most moved by the present. Even though he was battling his mental health issues, the tenacious Starbucks barista was determined to show up to work and do his job.
He was finally rewarded for his efforts with a random act of generosity that he never expected to receive.
