There has been an uproar and a seriously messed up allegation against former US President Donald Trump. The allegation has been made by former advice columnist for Elle magazine, E. Jean Carroll.

What Allegations Did E. Jean Carroll Make Against Donald Trump?
The allegations made by E. Jean Carroll are very serious and imply that Donald Trump had accosted her in a Manhattan department store in 1996. She has taken the matter to the New York civil rape and defamation court. Carroll told the Manhattan federal court an account of what had happened that day. The incident took place in the Bergdorf Goodman store and started as harmless flirtations. When Trump asked her to help him pick out a gift for a friend and wanted her to try on some lingerie. After this, Trump apparently followed her into the trial room, closed the door, held her against the wall, and raped her.
Although Carroll had tried to push him off and made it clear she did not want this to happen, she was unsuccessful and the incident lasted a few minutes. “I’m here because Donald Trump raped me, and when I wrote about it, he lied and said it didn’t happen. He lied and shattered my reputation, and I’m here to try and get my life back,” she told the court, and added, “As I’m sitting here today I can still feel it.”
With the whole incident, Donald Trump has maintained that it is all false and it is purely ‘fiction‘. However, he also took to social media, and with several posts he told the world that the accusations were “fraudulent and a false story”. Trump’s post read, “She didn’t scream? There are no witnesses? Nobody saw this?”
When brought to the US District Judge Lewis Kaplan’s attention, he gave strict measures to Trump’s legal team. He also said that the social media post was “a public statement that, on the face of it, seems entirely inappropriate”.

The Final Verdict Is Out
The jury has passed the final verdict today and it is not in favour of the former President. This would be detrimental to his 2024 election campaign since the jury has found him liable. E. Jean Carroll’s claims of rape have been rejected by the jury but they found Donald Trump liable for sexual abuse and for defaming her as allegations were made public.
As a result, Trump will have to pay $5 million to Carroll. She looked visibly pleased and relieved with the decision as she was crying and smiling for her win. She also hugged her lawyer and her supporters after the verdict was read. However, not only was Donald Trump absent from the court but he also lashed out on social media once again denying the whole matter.
This trial is very important as many women had previously accused Trump of sexual harassment. The verdict gives validation to all these women’s claims and the trial also revisited Mr Trump’s inappropriate conduct towards women.
