In a conversation with ForbesAl Yankovic explained the origins of his stage name, which trace back to his college days. He shared, “I’m pretty sure that nickname was given to me by someone in the dorms during my freshman year in college – but I took it on professionally when I starting doing a shift on the campus radio station the following year. I did “The Weird Al Show” on KCPR every Saturday night. And I had being doing song parodies since I was a small child – I think most kids go through that phase, and I guess I’m still going through it.

The musician has been the talk of the town ever since the release of his biopic, ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.‘ Yankovic co-wrote and co-produced the film, which traces the life of a young man who reached recognition and fame through an amusing genre of music: parodies and comedy. Daniel Radcliffe plays the lead character, Weird Al Yankovic.

It was a win for the connoisseurs of eccentric music when The Roku Channel announced that they’d be releasing and streaming the biopic of Weird Al Yankovic. The singer has been known for his parodic versions of mainstream music and pop culture, but the biopic promised a deeper look into his past and personal life, and the eventual rise to fame.

However, one loophole emerged with the streaming service provider when the public and fans alike realized that Roku is available only in the US, the UK, and Canada. Amidst this drawback, a fan tweeted, “How do I watch in Australia?.” Weird Al was quick to respond.

In his reply, he dropped several pun-intended hints which kind of gave the idea that Al is okay with his biopic being watched illegally. Here’s what he tweeted, “Roku’s working on it. In the meantime there’s VPN (Very Probably No) way to watch it legally. I’m sure you have a TORRENT of other questions, but I have to move along, sorry.”
