Something like this happened during Billboard Latin Women in Music event. Shakira took the stage and as she accepted the award for ‘Woman of the year’, she reminded all that it’s important to prioritize oneself while taking a not-so-subtle jab at her ex, Gerard Piqué.

Shakira Targets Her Ex Gerard Piqué In Her Speech
Shakira was able to grab the Woman of the Year award at the Latin Music Awards on May 6, 2023. While the singer delivered a speech, she hinted at the problems in her personal life including her separation from Gerard Piqué.
Shakira’s speech at the event had many references to her personal life. She said that 2023 has brought a big change in her life and she feels more about what it means to be a woman. She added, “It’s been a year where I’ve realized we women are stronger than we think, braver than we believed, more independent than we were taught to be.”
She continued by saying that a time comes in a woman’s life when she is no more dependent on love from someone else and a search for someone else is replaced by the search for himself or herself. She stated, “A time when the desire to be perfect is replaced by the desire to be authentic, and where finding someone who is faithful is less important than being faithful to ourselves.”
Shakira also mentioned that she learned a lot from other women and she writes and sings only for them. She stated that a woman can love until “she’s ripped apart, can speak with the most brutal honesty, can sing with anger, dance in ecstasy and be brought to tears with emotion.”

Shakira And Gerard Pique’s Relationship Timeline
Shakira and Gerard Pique first met in 2010 after Pique was featured in the music video for ‘Waka Waka.’ They got romantically linked in 2011 and they became the parents of their first son, Milan, in January 2013.
The pair then welcomed another child named Sasha in 2015. Although they were termed to be one of the World’s Most Powerful Couples by Forbes, they separated in June 2022. The pair revealed the same in a joint statement.
However, there was a big blowout when Gerard was said to have cheated on Shakira. Now it seems the singer isn’t holding back when pointing out his unfaithful behavior.
