It’s another tight call for Donald Trump, and the authorities are yet again terming it an “attempted assassination“. As the US elections approach, both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have been putting their best foot forward. Everything that has happened since Joe Biden stepped down from the presidential race and Harriss took over, hasn’t been any less than a political drama — and an assassination attempt on Trump is the highlight of it all.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any wilder, the Republican leader faced another assassination attempt at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, this Sunday. This came only nine weeks after the last one during the campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Here’s all we know about the second attack.
US Secret Services Spot AK-Style Rifle Muzzle At Golf Club
Donald Trump survived what has been deemed as another “assassination attempt” on Sunday. The former president emerged unscathed and confirmed his well-being in a subsequent report. His accuser was also taken into custody.
U.S. Secret Service agents, whose post was a few holes down from where Trump was playing, saw something unusual — an AK-style rifle muzzle popping in from behind the course’s shrubbery about 400 yards away. The agents opened fire, causing the gunman to run off his rifle and make his getaway in an SUV.
The would-be assassin, in addition to leaving behind the rifle, also dropped two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera. He was later captured in a different county, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.
Security Concerns For Donald Trump Mount After The Second Attack
The attack comes just days after a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, during which a bullet grazed Donald Trump, leaving a stream of blood flowing through a bullet injury on his ear. That alone left many wondering whether the Secret Service has been or can ensure the security of presidential candidates. A little more than seven weeks before the November 5 election, security concerns are more relevant than ever.

Although it is not clear how the attacker knew Trump was golfing, reports identify the suspect as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh of Hawaii. Such claims, however, have not been confirmed by the FBI, although reports do assert that Routh appears to be a fervent supporter of the moving campaign of Ukraine against Russia, based on social media posts in which it appears he recruits soldiers for the war.
The security provisions for the candidates, especially for Trump, are still unanswered as tensions increase over this campaign season.
