Citizens have been concerned over Republican candidate Donald Trump‘s safety as the 78-year-old survived another assassination attempt, months before the Presidential elections are set to take place.
Trump, who is competing against Kamala Harris this year, has spoken up about the incident, thanking the FBI and also pointing fingers at Harris, blaming her for the hatred and violence he’s facing. Here’s everything the former President said.
Donald Trump Issues Statement After Surviving Second Assassination Attempt
Shortly after authorities were alerted about a man attempting to harm Donald Trump while he played golf in Florida, the former President took to his Truth Social account to reassure citizens of his safety, while also thanking people for their concern.
Trump wrote, “I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes – It was certainly an interesting day! Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE. THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!“

The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was apprehended shortly after being discovered by police lurking near the edge of Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course with an assault-style rifle. After being shot at by US Secret Service personnel, he ran away and gave himself up without resistance. Based on cell phone records, Routh appears to have spent about 12 hours on the Trump golf club perimeter, according to an FBI criminal complaint.
This marks the second time that Trump has faced attempts of violence against him. On July 13, the former President was hit by a bullet at a rally in Pennsylvania before the lone gunman was killed by gunfire from the other side.
Donald Trump Blames Kamala Harris For Violence Against Him
Donald Trump also wrote on his Truth Social account how he holds Kamala Harris and her “rhetoric lies” accountable for the violence he is facing. A day before the incident, Trump had publicly made a statement dissing Taylor Swift for supporting Harris, to which Harris had responded with a creative statement filled with Taylor Swift references.
Trump wrote, “The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust.“
Meanwhile, Harris also made a statement about the gunshot and wrote on X, “I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America.“
