Is Disney+ Preparing To Say Goodbye To ‘Ahsoka’?

Disney+ has become a staple for fans of Disney classics, Marvel blockbusters, and Star Wars epics. However, despite its reputation for delivering crowd-pleasing series, the streaming giant is no stranger to pulling the plug on its projects.

According to insider reports, one of its fan-favorite Star Wars spin-offs, ‘Ahsoka’, may be nearing the end of its journey. The beloved series might face the same fate as ‘The Acolyte‘.

‘Ahsoka’ May End After Season 2, But Not Without A Conclusion For Fans

This wouldn’t be Disney’s first move to tighten its budget by axing high-cost productions. Over the past few years, the entertainment powerhouse has started, prioritizing profitability over endless renewals. Now, insider Daniel Richtman suggests that ‘Ahsoka’, which debuted to much fanfare in 2023, could see its conclusion after its second season.

While Season 2 is still reportedly in development and expected to drop in 2026, Richtman claims the episodes will serve as a definitive conclusion to the series. This is because showrunners want to make sure that the show feels complete if Disney+ decides not to greenlight a third installment. Moreover, it’s bittersweet news for fans who’ve grown attached to Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of the Jedi.

The first season of ‘Ahsoka’ ended on a tantalizing cliffhanger: Ahsoka Tano and her apprentice Sabine Wren remained stranded on the distant planet Peridea while Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger returned to the galaxy, setting the stage for future conflicts. With these unresolved threads, fans eagerly awaited news about the show’s continuation.

In January 2024, Lucasfilm confirmed that the show was renewed for a second season. However, specific details about its release date and plot still remain under wraps. While an official release date hasn’t been announced, production is expected to commence in 2025, suggesting a potential late 2025 or early 2026 release window.

The plot of season 2 is still shrouded in mystery. However, clues from the season 1 finale and the first concept art released by Dave Filoni are enough for speculation.

Baylan Skoll was last seen near a statue of the Father, a Force deity associated with balance. The concept art shows Ahsoka and Sabine investigating the same statue. This suggests that they may be pursuing Baylan and potentially delving into the mysteries of the World Between Worlds.
