One of the most popular characters introduced in ‘The Mandalorian’ was Boba Fett, played by Temuera Morrison. After making a surprise appearance in season two, Boba went on to lead his own spin-off series, ‘The Book of Boba Fett’.
However, it seems Boba Fett’s time in the ‘Star Wars‘ universe may be coming to an end, at least for now, as Morrison has confirmed he will not appear in the upcoming movie ‘The Mandalorian And Grogu’. Here’s what he said.
Creative Plans For Temuera Morrison’s Character In ‘Star Wars’ Universe Is On Hold
Speaking at a panel at Fan Expo Chicago, Temuera Morrison told fans that his return to the franchise is unlikely. “I’m still waiting for a phone call to be quite honest,” he said. “I think we’re just put on the shelf for a little bit. Maybe we come off the shelf later,” he added.
This seems to suggest that the creative plans for the character have been put on hold following the poor reception to ‘The Book of Boba Fett’.
While Boba Fett has long been a favorite among ‘Star Wars‘ fans, the same cannot be said for the character’s latest live-action appearance. ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ was widely seen as a missed opportunity that failed to do the character justice.
The plot moved slowly and lacked excitement. Many felt Boba acted out of character at times as well. The negative reaction online was substantial. As a result, it appears Lucasfilm has reconsidered how to utilize Boba Fett going forward.

What’s Next For Temuera Morrison In The ‘Star Wars’ Universe?
Morrison’s comments indicate Boba Fett is being sidelined for the time being. With the character absent from ‘The Mandalorian And Grogu’, his future path in the Star Wars universe now seems uncertain.
Some speculate he may return in a future season of ‘The Mandalorian’ to help further that story. However, plans could also change if fan interest in the character resurges.
Morrison clearly still enjoys portraying Boba and is waiting to potentially reprise the role if given another opportunity. Fans will have to wait and see if this iconic bounty hunter somehow finds his way back into the live-action Star Wars fold.
