Elon Musk is a man on a mission to make Twitter, aka X, one of the most successful endeavors of his life. However, the billionaire has not yet reached his goal. He has faced many hurdles in transforming X to compete with its contemporaries. But Musk faced financial hurdles when he took over the company. So he introduced many new features and tweaked policies for monetary gains.
The most chaotic feature introduction was the $8 per month feature, which opened the door to verification for every user. However, after a launch debacle, he successfully reintroduced it with some exclusive features for the subscribers. Recently, he also made the revamped X conducive for content creators. In a new move, he declared getting rid of the block feature, which received heavy criticism, but Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, has come on board with Musk’s decision.
Linda Yaccarino Says They Are Building Some Better Than Block And Mute At X
Elon Musk has been a propagator of free speech on Twitter, aka X. However, critics and users have time and again criticized Musk’s stance on free speech. When he started functioning as the CEO of X, he started reinstating the accounts of infamous personalities like Kanye West and Donald Trump. Reports from studies also indicate that hate and anti-Semitic comments have been on the rise since Elon Musk stepped in as CEO.
Now, Elon Musk has suggested doing away with the Block feature on X. The feature helps users limit bullying and harassment on the platforms. The billionaire received criticism for his decision to cancel the feature. Now, the new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, has stepped in to support Elon’s decision.
Monica Lewinsky, the activist and survivor of the Bill Clinton controversy, criticized Musk’s decision, writing, “Please rethink removing the block feature. As an anti-bullying activist (and target of harassment), I can assure you that it’s a critical tool to keep people safe online. that woman
Linda Yaccarino replied to Monica, saying, “Our users’ safety on X is our number one priority. And we’re building something better than the current state of block and mute. Please keep the feedback coming.”

Why Elon Musk’s Decision To Remove Block Feature Can Heavily Affect X?
Elon Musk announced on Friday that X will do away with the Block feature, and he reasoned that the feature does not make any sense. On X, he wrote, “Block is going to be deleted as a “feature,” except for DMs.” He added, writing, “It makes no sense.”
However, there is a huge repercussion for X if Elon does away with the block feature. If the Tesla owner decides to remove the feature, it may come into hot water with the policies of the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Both companies make it mandatory for applications to allow users to block abusive users and user-generated content. Musk is already on Apple’s radar as the ex-CEO of X is trying to evade the additional taxes on Apple’s App Store.
