Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have more sympathy than the royal family amid the drama that has been long ingoing. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex often make it to the headlines, be if for the royal family drama or their personal high profile ventures. The couple is now making headlines again, but its not about their royal exit or mega deals.
Harry and Meghan are known for their high-profile life. They seemingly have a knack for getting on with rich, high-profile people and enjoying the finer things. Though they have stepped down from their royal duties and are not seemingly doing a regular job, the couple lives a lavish life. Some sources have now revealed that the two do so without dipping into their own pockets.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle “Certainly Don’t Like Spending Their Own Money”, Claim Sources
The most recent outing by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan involves a three-day trip to Vancouver, in Canada. This time, the couple is flying to promote the launch of the 2025 Invictus Games for wounded service personnel. The duo hopped on a private jet, a 10-seat Bombardier Challenger 605, generously provided by a local private aviation company for the trip.
According to Page Six, the ride was a “gift,” making it the latest addition to their collection of not-so-personally funded luxuries. Some sources spoke more about such presents that the couple frequently receives and enjoys.
“They certainly don’t like to spend their own money,” one source said, while another one chimed in, stating, “It’s always other people’s money.” The couple’s penchant for flying private, often with friends, and staying at luxurious estates owned by their affluent friends has become somewhat of a trademark.
The Canadian trip is just another entry in their log of extravagant getaways. Last October, the couple jetted off to NYC for a conference on social media perils for kids and then extended their journey to the Caribbean island of Canouan. Its unclear how much the trip costed and who paid the bills.
November also saw the two boarding Texan oil heir Michael Herd’s plane for a Katy Perry concert in Vegas. In January, they joined Paramount CEO Brian Robbins in Jamaica for the premiere of Bob Marley’s biopic, all via private jet.
Their ability to secure accommodations in their well-off friends’ homes is another piece of the puzzle, having stayed at Tyler Perry’s $18 million LA home and Russian oligarch Yuri Milner’s Canadian retreat.

How Do Harry And Meghan Afford A Lavish Lifestyle?
Once barred from accepting freebies during their royal tenure, the couple seems to have found other ways to indulge. Markle has often made extravagant fashion choices, wearing items from the Staud range run by Sarah Staudinger, wife of Hollywood agent Ari Emmanuel.
Sources suggest that Markle’s Hollywood mentality might be at play here. “If I wear your brand, it will increase sales,” a source suggested Markle as thinking. With the recent launch of their Sussex.com website, some insiders see it as a reminder that they are “royal above everything else.”
The concerns about their finances have been prominent since they stepped down from the royal duties. Acclaimed royal writer Valentine Low revealed in his book “Courtiers” that during an official tour of Australia and Fiji in 2018, Markle had told the staffers, “I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this.’”
Prince Harry had also infamously told Oprah Winfrey that the couple would not have been able to move to the US if it was not for Princess Diana’s inheritance. Harry and Meghan’s post-royal life has been financially buoyant, marked by deals with Spotify, Netflix, and Penguin Random House.
Despite a setback with Spotify, their Netflix deal is reportedly still going strong. Markle’s new podcast deal with Lemonada Media has also been announced, though some speculate it’s more about fixing a perceived “grifter narrative” than a big-money deal.
In the world of Harry and Meghan, the luxury keeps flowing, but the spending is reportedly not so much from their royal pockets, if at all.
