Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have invited trouble for themselves, and it is not going to leave them anytime soon! The couple decided to step back from their royal duties and establish their identities in the world away from the royal family. To do so, they targeted the royal family for meddling in their affairs. The saga of family bashing began in 2021 with the Oprah Winfrey interview, which proved to be the beginning of the end.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed deals with media giants like Spotify and Netflix. It was their foray into the second act after leaving the royal duties and perks behind. They signed a $100 million deal with the streaming giant and launched their explosive docuseries, ‘Harry & Meghan.’ Markle also dabbled in podcasting with her podcast ‘Archetypes,’ which is now defunct. While their finances are plummeting, Netflix has asked the couple to churn out more content to stabilize their economic status.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Need To Pitch More Ideas To Continue Their Deal With Netflix
After the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry went on to make a Netflix docuseries chronicling their story. In the six-part docuseries, Meghan and Harry revealed many shocking details and made some explosive confessions. It includes Prince William getting physical with Harry to draw parallels between Meghan and Princess Diana. The series racked up 81.55 million viewing hours in the first few days of its release.
However, it is not enough for Harry and Meghan to sustain their deal with Netflix. The couple wanted to make a children’s animated show, but it was scrapped. They also produced an inspirational documentary titled ‘Live to Lead,’ and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are onto their next TV show based on a Charles Dickens character from ‘Great Expectations.’
Netflix is yearning for more ideas from Harry and Meghan to earn the remaining $50 million. A source told The Sun that Netflix wants them to be proactive in churning out content. The source said, “There’s no question of a headline-grabbing, public parting of the way. Netflix was pleased to sign Harry and Meghan and is looking for some great ideas going forward.”
It continued, “But the remainder of the deal relies on them producing those good ideas. The deal’s continually under review which is normal for ones of this magnitude.”
