Prince Harry is legally barred from paying for his security detail during his visits to the United Kingdom. The London High Court has rejected his plea for the officers of the Metropolitan Police to act as his bodyguards in the event the family makes scheduled and unscheduled trips to the United Kingdom.
Prince Harry’s legal team has previously asked for increased security, which the Duke and Dutchess don’t have since leaving the Royal Family. The team argued that since the publication of ‘Spare,’ the Duke of Sussex faces legitimate death threats, requiring more security. But the court ruled out their illegibility for tax-funded protection even though The Duke of Sussex is willing to pay fo it.
The Court Rules Out Prince Harry’s Plea To Pay For Personal Security
Prince Harry won’t be allowed to pay for his personal protection convoy. The Duke of Sussex lost his legal plea on Tuesday, challenging the Home Office’s rejection of his bid to fund his and his family’s protection using police officers of the Metropolitan Police as his personal guards.
In the United States, Prince Harry has a team of bodyguards. But they are redundant in the United Kingdom, where private security can’t carry firearms. He offered to pay for protection out of his pocket to feel safe. But the Home Office finds the police officers working security detail for the rich as indignified. Prince Harry’s lawyers appealed against the decision and lost in court.
