There has been a problem awaiting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle every waking day since they left the royal family. The couple stepped down from royal duties in 2020 due to ill-treatment and constant media intrusion. Due to this, they moved to the US to lead a peaceful life away from the toxic tabloid culture in the UK. Harry and Meghan connected with many dignitaries in the States and signed multimedia deals to sustain their lives here.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a reported $100 million deal with Netflix to produce content for the platform. They also signed a $20 million deal with Spotify to stream Meghan’s podcast, ‘Archetypes.’ However, these deals are slipping out of the couple’s hands due to their lousy behavior towards work. Spotify has parted ways with them recently, with sources saying that Harry and Meghan did not create enough content. Apart from this, rumors about Meghan not interviewing her guests also swirled around. But Andy Cohen has come out in support of the actress and called the rumors baseless.
Andy Cohen Confirms That Meghan Markle Interviewed Him On Spotify Podcast
In August 2022, Meghan Markle commenced her podcast journey with Spotify’s ‘Archetypes.’ The 12-episode series explored how stereotypes are fueled in society for women from different walks of life. Markle hosted many esteemed members like Serena Williams, Mindy Kaling, and others. ‘Archetypes’ became the most listened-to podcast on Spotify and also won the People’s Choice Award.
Now, the deal between Spotify and Archewell Audio remains defunct. After they parted ways amicably, rumors went wild that Meghan Markle did not interview any of her guests in real-time. Podnews reported that Meghan’s staff pre-recorded the questions and clipped them later. Andy Cohen, who was one of the guests on the podcast during the last episode, has rubbished the claims.
During an interview with the US Weekly, Andy Cohen defended Meghan Markle, saying, “Of course, I [spoke with Markle], And she definitely [interviewed me]. That’s an insane rumor. Her podcast is conversations with people. How would she not have, of course she did.”

Spotify Allegedly Cancels The Deal With The Couple For Not Providing Enough Content
In June 2023, after almost three years, Spotify and Archewell Audio announced that they had parted ways amicably. In a joint statement, the two entities said, “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”
Many sources have chimed in to cite the real reasons for Spotify’s cancellation of the deal with the couple. One source said that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are finding another home for ‘Archetypes’ due to the stringent exclusivity of the streaming platform over the podcast. Another source says that Spotify was not happy with the couple not coming up with ideas for the podcast.
