10 Best Fantasy Shows That Will Transport You To Another World

Reality is quite overrated. What isn’t overrated, though? Time-traveling tricksters, magical animals, epic wars, and absurdly attractive immortals. If you’re searching for your next getaway that will make you want to binge, nothing tops the allure of fantasy shows with great world-building and magical creatures.

10. The Rings Of Power

Amazon threw a billion dollars at this show, and the outcome justifies it. The visuals are incredibly stunning. The scope is massive. The lore debates are never-ending. Set thousands of years before ‘Lord of the Rings‘, this prequel to J.R.R. Tolkien’s works follows the rise of Sauron, the one who wreaks havoc in the Middle-earth and makes lives miserable for its myriad beings.

9. Outlander

What would happen if you accidentally traveled 200 years into the past and fell in love with a Scottish warrior who was extraordinarily attractive? That is how the ball gets rolling for ‘Outlander.’ The series, which is based on Diana Gabaldon‘s best-selling novels, centers on Claire Randall, a WWII nurse who unexpectedly finds herself in Scotland in the 18th century, a period marked by politics and battles. Along the way, she develops feelings for Jamie Fraser, a Highlander with god-sculpted abs and a golden heart. The series features historical drama, romance, time-traveling antics, and enough steamy scenes. In addition, Claire and Jamie have absolutely incredible chemistry.

8. Carnival Row

Carnival Row‘ is about a world full of fairies, werewolves, and other magical creatures, but the catch is they are treated as second-class citizens. With Orlando Bloom as a detective and a badass fairy, played by Cara Delevingne, and a murder mystery, you’ve got the setting of an intriguing story that defies imagination. It’s got steampunk aesthetics, deep world-building, and a thrilling mystery. We think it’s criminally underrated.

7. The Sandman

The Sandman‘ is dark, poetic, and weirdly soothing. Think of bedtime stories for adults but with extreme existential dread. It centers on Dream, often known as Morpheus, a sullen immortal who rules the dream realm. After being imprisoned and escaping from proverbial shackles, he attempts to repair the cosmic mess manifested while he was away. It feels strange, but Death is also very wholesome in this show.

6. The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries‘ is the show that made our high schools seem boring. Who wouldn’t want mysterious, brooding vampires lurking around? The story has magic, romance, and a ridiculous amount of intimate moments. Ian Somerhalder became the man of every girl’s desire. Damon or Stefan? In the 2010s, this question was on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Don’t worry if you missed the vampire frenzy; there is always time to immerse yourself in Mystic Falls’ endless supernatural drama.

5. House Of The Dragon

If ‘Game of Thrones’ was a chaotic rollercoaster, ‘House of the Dragon‘ is a well-planned slow burn with dragons. Set centuries before the original show based on George R.R. Martin’s works, this show is all about the Targaryens – the world’s most dysfunctional family. Once again, it’s a fight over the Iron Throne; even if it’s a family matter, the carnage is heavy. Betrayal, plotting, and the sort of royal drama that entertains awaits. And Matt Smith in the role of Daemon Targaryen? Charming despite being wild.

4. Shadow And Bone

Ever wondered what would happen if ‘Harry Potter‘ and ‘Peaky Blinders‘ had a lovechild? You’d get something close to ‘Shadow and Bone.’ This drama takes place in the Grishaverse and has war, thieves, shadow magic, and the type of ethically dubious villain who drives the internet to madness. The Darkling, sometimes known as the most dramatic guy in history, is portrayed by Ben Barnes. He is the type of villain that could simply send his threats by easier methods, but instead, he gives a theatrical monologue while dressed entirely in black.

3. Stranger Things

Stranger Things‘ is proof that friendship is magic and also that horrifying monsters from alternate dimensions can, in fact, ruin your day. It follows a bunch of kids as they fight interdimensional monsters in the 1980s while armed with bikes, walkie-talkies, and total chaos. The combination of government plots, psychic abilities, and a furious Eleven who can destroy objects with her thoughts makes for an experience that will never be forgotten. It has fantastic music from the ’80s and the ideal balance of sci-fi, horror, and touching themes.

2. The Witcher

If brooding monster hunters and dark magic are your thing, then welcome to ‘The Witcher.’ The show has a built-in fan following that is prepared to attack anyone who criticizes it because it is based on novels and video games. And Henry Cavill stars in it! It has political intrigue, vicious swordfights, and a bard who is overly devoted to his lute. What is Geralt’s philosophy of life? He grunts, appears irritated, and uses his sword to solve 90% of issues. The action, the humor, and Geralt’s “hmm,” which strangely expresses every emotion imaginable, are the main reasons you should give it a go.

1. Game Of Thrones

If we are talking about fantasy dramas, then ‘Game of Thrones‘ has got to be on the list. Back in its prime, ‘Game of Thrones‘ was the show that had everyone talking. It has everything you could ever think of: medieval politics, backstabbing, betrayals, mind-blasting twists, and, of course, dragons! Then came the last season, and, well, let’s just say that the cost of therapy increased. Despite this, the first seven seasons are a masterwork of Westerosi setup, narrative, and heartbreaking deaths. Since anybody’s fate can fall, you will truly be on edge.
