The plot for ‘How I Met Your Mother’ has all the feel-good factors you need after a long day at work. Even though it’s just a story Ted is telling his kids about how he met their mother, it somehow stretches over nine seasons. And we see Ted and his friends go through life together, making mistakes, growing up slowly, and still sticking together.

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully remain the most contradictory detective duo in television history. Thrust into a world of aliens, conspiracies, crime, and politics, the two find common ground in their profession, but their chemistry is dynamic, which is what draws attention. Throughout the series, Mulder and Scully rely on each other despite their differences, and their slow-burning, mutual dependency remains consistent.

8. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Anyone who has seen teen dramas can vouch for ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ as its trendsetter. A high schooler lives a normal life until the weight of killing supernatural beings in the world is forced onto her head. Buffy definitely didn’t have it easy as we normal folks do, and that’s what made the show engaging. Plus, the dramatic fight sequences, the unexpected musical episode, and Buffy’s ultimate sacrifice in season 5 make it rather unforgettable.

7. The Office

Dunder Mifflin is a name forever etched in the memories of sitcom fans. The chaos, desperation, sarcasm, and random bits of affection that Michael and his crew have are not just timeless but also annoyingly immersive. How can we forget Kelly and Ryan’s relationship, the unhinged bits of Dwight, and Pam and Jim’s emotional rollercoaster? There are way too many legendary arcs for a list alone.

6. Gilmore Girls

Dare we say ‘Gilmore Girls’ nails real-life mother-daughter relationships to a fault. Lorelai and Rory go through their own emotional wreckage over the course of 7 seasons. Through all of Rory and Lorelai’s fallouts and makeups, as the audience, you can’t help but remain hooked. The duo juggles life in Stars Hollow amid college, work, romance, and their social class, and somehow it never gets old.

5. Sex and the City

With iconic outfits, messy brunch conversations, and tumultuous relationships, ‘Sex and the City’ gave a realistic picture of modern dating. Even if the show is narrated through Carrie, all four friends’ characters are well-developed, so they don’t feel flat.

Samantha was the ultimate unapologetic queen. Charlotte made us believe in hard-earned love. While Carrie showed how it’s okay to be painfully human with shopaholic tendencies. Miranda was way ahead of her time, telling us that a career can be nailed down even with motherhood. Even today, I can’t find a better example of female friendships!

4. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

If there’s any classic that best shows the changes in teenage life, it’s ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’. It shows us how a teenager’s life changes upon relocating with realistic external factors. Race, class, and growth are brought to the audience with humor while still maintaining the emotional side. Will starts as a fish out of the water when he relocates to Bel-Air, but develops a long-standing relationship with Uncle Phil and his family.

3. Star Trek: The Next Generation

The 90s show that painted the perfect picture of space adventures is none other than ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’. Every episode offers something new for Picard’s crew, while the audience is pulled into the tricky dynamics aboard their spaceship. With aliens, Vulcan mind melds, new worlds, extraterrestrial threats, and more bringing unpredictability, the voyages of the Starship Enterprise remain legendary even today.

2. Seinfeld

The series that turned minor real-world inconveniences into 30-minute episodes. Yes, we are talking about ‘Seinfeld’. No matter how many times you’ve watched it, you never get tired of Jerry, George, Elaine, and Cosmo basically living out their ordinary lives. In the nine seasons of the show, there is no shortage of eccentricity, and we end up loving every bit of it.

1. Friends

Our list would have remained incomplete without ‘Friends‘. ‘Friends‘ sold us the illusion of the ideal hangout group. And, decades later, it is still the dream. Even though the characters were flawed, they were super relatable and loved. The group goes through relationships, inconsistent jobs, life-altering moments, and financial instability, yet still manages to pull through unbothered.
