HBO’s most awaited and a rather thrilling second season of ‘House Of The Dragon‘ is already coming to an end. The final episode of the season is set to air tomorrow after an exciting season that left fans shocked with unexpected twists including the death of Rhaenys Targaryen — a rather emotional moment for the fans.
However, it seems that the season finale still has some big guns to pull out. Some clips of the season finale were also leaked recently, although Warner Bros seem to have things under control as of now. With the excitement for the finale mounting, here are some major plot points that ‘House Of The Dragon‘ fans can expect to unfold in season 2 finale.
1. A Naval Battle Between The Velaryon And Triarchy Navies
Season 2 of ‘House Of The Dragon’ offered us one epic dragon battle. However, we are yet to see another crucial naval battle from ‘Dance Of The Dragons‘. Previously in the series, Aemond had already sent a word to the Triarchy to take down the blockade set by the Sea Snake. It’s therefore likely that the season would end with a naval battle between the Velaryon and the Triarchy, since glimpses of the Triarchy were also visible in the episode promo.

2. Helaena’s Participation In The War With Dreamfyre
The episode promo of the final season shows a scene where Aemond asks Helaena to join him in battle on Dreamfyre. However, given that Helaena is a kind soul, it is difficult to conclude whether or nor she will be joining in the battle. Dreamfyre is also said to be more of a breeder than a fighter. But getting a glimpse of her would be exciting.
3. Otto Hightower’s Return
One of the show’s most interesting characters, Otto Hightower, has been absent from many episodes of season 2 after Aegon appointed Criston Cole as his hand. However, both Aemond and Alicent have been writing to him for his return. However, currently Otto’s whereabouts are unknown. It is certain that he will come back into the picture — if not in the finale, then in season 3 for sure.
4. The Arrival Of Tessarion And Daeron Targaryen
The seventh episode of season 2 already hinted at Tessarion joining the fight. Tessarion is Alicent’s youngest son who grew up in Old Town. He has been mentioned a few times in the previous episodes. But it will be exciting to see him and his dragon Tessarion in the season finale.
5. The Lannister Army Marching On The Riverlands
Lord Jason Lannister was shown arriving at the Golden Tooth with the armies of the Westerlands and some caged lions in episode 6. He wanted to wait for Aemond to join him in the battle. So there is a chance that Jason Lannister might be attacking the Riverlands. Since Daemon has also gathered an army there, the season finale might offer us an epic battle.
6. Rhaena Claiming Sheepstealer
Episode 7 showed that Rhaena wanders into the Vale in search of Sheepstealer, a wild dragon. In the book, the dragon is claimed by Nettles. But is seems, the show is hinting at Rhaena claiming Sheepstealer. We are yet to see her approach the dragon. And the finale might be the perfect episode to make that happen.
7. Rhaenyra Assembles Her Dragonseeds
After season 7, Rhaenyra has successfully found dragon riders among the Dragon seeds she invited. Hugh claimed Vermithor and Ulf claimed Silverwing, while Addam of Hull had previously claimed Sea Smoke. Rhaenyra is yet to understand the dynamics between these people and address them into her army. Episode 8 will be perfect for it.
So this is all we expect to unfold on screen in the finale. But who’s to say when it’s ‘House of the Dragon‘ we’re talking about!
