When ‘The Boys‘ first exploded onto Prime Video in 2019, it was a shockwave in the superhero genre. Bloody, gory, and unapologetically satirical, it tore down the perfection of classic superhero stories and replaced it with a world where “heroes” were corporate products and moral compasses were optional.
At the center of that chaos was Homelander, played by Antony Starr, the smiling, patriotic face to the public and a narcissistic tyrant within. Now, after five seasons, Starr has filmed his final scenes and has a lot to say about concluding his role.
Antony Starr Claims Playing Homelander Has Been The Highlight Of His Career

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Antony Starr reflected on his journey. He revealed just how much the show and the character meant to him. “Difficult (for me) to put into words what an incredible ride this has been. How much life and growth has occurred. How amazing the team is. It’s truly been the highlight of my career.” Starr admitted he took some time before writing his farewell for such a significant chapter in his life.

He thanked the Canadian crew, the production team, Amazon, Sony, his fellow cast members, and of course, the fans. He even joked about the studio “making the great choice in casting me,” before turning sentimental about how much he would miss stepping into Homelander’s boots. While Homelander is undoubtedly a monster, Starr’s performance has always carried layers. Homelander is the product of a man shaped by trauma, manipulation, and power unchecked.
“This complicated character allowed the space and range to discover and push boundaries in a way I never expected,” he wrote, crediting showrunner Eric Kripke as his “co-parent” in creating the twisted icon. It’s not just the gore or shock value that made The Boys stick; it’s the depth of its characters, the sly social commentary, and the performances that made even its worst villains compelling. Starr’s farewell reminds fans that while filming may be over, the final chapter is yet to be told.
Jared Padalecki Teases Two-Part Release For ‘The Boys’ Season 5

While Antony Starr’s goodbye gave fans a lump in their throat, ‘The Boys’ universe isn’t done surprising them. At a recent Fan Expo in Boston, Jared Padalecki, best known for his role as Sam Winchester in ‘Supernatural‘, revealed new details about his debut in the show’s fifth and final season, as well as an interesting change to its release format. Padalecki confirmed that he will first appear in ‘The Boys’ Season 5, Episode 5. However, it’s how the season will be rolled out that’s grabbing attention.

According to the actor, Prime Video plans to release the first four episodes in one go, then take a short break before dropping the remaining four. “I think they’re putting out the first four episodes and then a little bit of time and then the final four episodes,” he said. This marks a departure from the show’s previous strategies. Season 1 dropped all episodes at once, while later seasons used a weekly schedule after a multi-episode premiere.
The new approach could add an extra layer of anticipation, giving fans time to digest the first half before diving into what promises to be an intense conclusion. Padalecki also teased that his character has a direct connection to Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, another ‘Supernatural’ alum who made a memorable entry in Season 3. “My character is very excited to meet Soldier Boy,” he hinted. “And for those who are not yet 18, do not watch it.”
