‘Belgravia’ is a 2020 six-part limited TV series based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Julian Fellowes. Set in the 19th century, the series takes place in London’s prestigious Belgravia district and follows the lives of the aristocratic families navigating wealth, status, and long-hidden secrets.

The story begins on the historic night right before the Battle of Waterloo. The scene is set at the Duchess of Richmond’s Ball. Among the guests, two young lovers, Sophia Trenchard and Edmund Bellasis, catch each other’s eye and quickly fall in love.

Another connection that fans might find is that the creative team behind ‘Belgravia’ originally worked on ‘Downton Abbey’, which is an absolute favorite amongst period drama fans. As a result, the series combines stunning visuals with careful attention to historical detail.

Because ‘Belgravia‘ is adapted from a novel, the story feels tightly structured and layered. Julian Fellowes crafts a narrative that is slightly darker and more mature than ‘Bridgerton,’ exploring complex relationships and social tensions. Yet it still delivers the same historical charm and emotional storytelling that make period dramas so compelling.
