Portrayed by Daniel Ings, the actor has been widely praised by fans as the perfect choice for the role. Surprisingly, however, audiences may have seen him in the ‘Game of Thrones‘ universe much earlier.
In a recent interview, Ings revealed that he actually auditioned for Game of Thrones years ago. What makes the revelation even more interesting is that he was considered for not just one, but two of the show’s most iconic roles.
Daniel Ings On Almost Joining ‘Game of Thrones’

Viewers have been loving Daniel Ings’ performance as Lyonel Baratheon in ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ thanks to the charm and humour he brings to the character. However, in his recent interview with Vulture, Ings explained that his journey to Westeros wasn’t exactly smooth.

He previously auditioned for ‘Game of Thrones‘ for the roles of Theon Greyjoy and Oberyn Martell. Unfortunately, he did not land either part, with the roles ultimately going to Alfie Allen and Pedro Pascal, respectively.
While he missed out on those major opportunities at the time, Ings has now become an important part of the franchise through the prequel series, which is currently performing strongly in terms of viewership.
Daniel Ings Also Had A Surprise MCU Role

Before joining the ‘Game of Thrones universe,’ Daniel Ings also appeared in the MCU in a minor role. He played Ty-Rone in ‘The Marvels,’ a Kree scientist and advisor to Dar-Benn.
Despite the limited screen time, Ings delivered a memorable performance and appeared in several key moments throughout the film. After years of impactful supporting roles across film and television, his portrayal of Lyonel Baratheon now stands out as one of the most significant roles of his career.
