Dwayne Johnson Was Not Interested In Being A Part Of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’
Boulder is a wrestler and he refers to himself in the third person. ‘Avatar: Braving the Elements‘ is a podcast done by the two actors from the franchise Janet Varney, the voice of Korra, and Dante Basco, the voice of Prince Zuko. Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were invited to the podcast show and they discussed how the role of Boulder was made for Dwayne. He rejected the role as he was not interested in television.
Michael DiMartino revealed, “This was before he was like the Rock as we know him now, but he was definitely on that trajectory, and since [the Boulder] was modeled after him, we tried to get him to be the voice, but he was not doing television at the time.“
The Boulder isn’t voiced by Dwayne but by his fellow wrestler friend, Mick Foley. Even though The Rock rejected the role, his friend backed up the voice and did a flawless job at delivering his humorous and dynamic voice to Boulder. As the role was crafted for Dwayne, Mick cleverly impersonated all the details that could only be found in a friend’s observations.
