‘The Boys’ universe has thrived because of its sharp satire, brutal action, and unapologetic social commentary. With ‘Gen V’ season 2 just around the corner and the final season of ‘The Boys’ confirmed to follow, showrunner Eric Kripke has made one thing very clear: the franchise won’t fall into the same trap as Star Wars spinoffs.
Specifically, he wants to avoid repeating the controversial choice made in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, where the series was overshadowed by another property (The Mandalorian). In doing so, Kripke is protecting what makes both ‘The Boys’ and ‘Gen V’ stand out: their unique characters and stories.
‘Gen V’ Will Not Be Like ‘The Mandalorian’

Eric Kripke openly acknowledged the divisive reaction to ‘The Book of Boba Fett’. Instead of centering on Boba Fett’s rise to power, several episodes pivoted almost entirely to Din Djarin and Grogu, effectively hijacking the narrative. For many viewers, it felt like a betrayal of investment. They tuned in for one character’s journey only to get a completely different show. Kripke wants to make sure ‘Gen V’ avoids this “rug pull.”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he explained: “I’m very sensitive to the fact that Gen V should be primarily about the characters from Gen V and The Boys should be primarily about the characters from The Boys. While there can be crossovers and assists and help, it’s a little bit of a rug pull and not a great way when you’ve committed to watching, say, Boba Fett, and then for two episodes of Boba Fett, it’s just The Mandalorian. I don’t wanna do that. We have stories to tell in each one.”
This approach will give audiences the best of both worlds. ‘Gen V’ can explore the aftermath of its shocking season 1 finale, with Cate and Sam embracing the dark side, and Homelander asserting control over Godolkin University, without losing sight of the young supes it introduced. At the same time, ‘The Boys’ will move toward its own bloody endgame. Starlight, Hughie, Butcher, and the rest must face their most impossible odds yet.
By keeping the stories parallel but distinct, Kripke preserves what makes each installment resonate. Fans won’t feel cheated by forced crossovers. Instead, they’ll see organic intersections. ‘Gen V’ season 2 has a heavy burden to carry. Beyond wrapping its narrative threads, the season will honor the late Chance Perdomo, who tragically passed in 2024. His character Andre will be written off respectfully, and Hamish Linklater joins the cast as the new Head of Godolkin.
‘Gen V’ Actress Jaz Sinclair Wants Marie To Kill Homelander As ‘The Boys’ Nears Its Finale

One of the most exciting updates comes from ‘Gen V’s lead star, Jaz Sinclair. In a candid interview, she admitted that she wants her character, Marie Moreau, to have a shot at killing Homelander. “I was always hoping that they would write me to kill Homelander. I always really liked the idea of taking him out ‘cause he’s such a royal ass, you know?” Sinclair told EW.

It’s a sentiment many fans share. Homelander has long been one of television’s most terrifying villains. He is an unchecked god masquerading as a superhero. While Butcher, Hughie, and Starlight have fought against him for years, Marie offers something new: blood manipulation. In the season 1 finale of ‘Gen V’, she demonstrated an ability to withstand Homelander’s attack. So, her powers might be the secret weapon needed to finally end his reign of terror.
Whether or not she’s the one who lands the killing blow remains to be seen. However, Sinclair’s comments highlight the anticipation surrounding the franchise’s climax. With ‘Gen V’ season 2 premiering September 17, 2025, fans don’t have long to wait. Prime Video will drop the first three episodes at once, followed by weekly releases until the October 22 finale. Then, all eyes will turn to ‘The Boys’ season 5, the final chapter in this twisted saga.
