‘Game Of Thrones’ Secretly Confirmed Ser Duncan The Tall’s ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Destiny

If ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ is meant to feel like a clean slate for Westeros, Game of Thrones has already messed that up, ‘Game of Thrones‘ has already messed that up, and in the most irritating way possible.

Just when fans thought they could enjoy Ser Duncan the Tall’s rise without knowing where it all ends, the original series revealed his future years ago. And the worst part is, it came from Joffrey Baratheon. He’s the same cruel king viewers celebrated getting rid of when he choked at his wedding.

Fans have pointed out that the spoiler sits in plain sight in the ‘Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere. In the scene where Joffrey flips through the Book of the Brothers, the famous White Book documents every Kingsguard knight and their legacy. As he casually scans the pages, he lands on a name: Ser Duncan the Tall.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ introduces Dunk as a humble hedge knight, still trying to survive and prove himself in a harsh world where status means everything. But Joffrey’s reaction gives away the ending of Dunk’s story in one smug sentence. He notices Dunk has multiple pages dedicated to him and says, “Four pages for Ser Duncan. He must’ve been quite a man.

That was fine until it spoiled the biggest takeaway. That means Duncan was not a commoner. The implication is massive. Dunk eventually climbs high enough to earn a place in the Kingsguard. It’s a title reserved for the realm’s most elite warriors, the men considered noble, feared, and worthy enough to stand beside the king himself.

Why The Spoiler Changes How Fans Watch ‘A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms’

This revelation stings more because it lands so early in Dunk’s journey. ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ is built around him as an underdog. There, he’s a man with no famous house backing him, no wealth, and no grand political plan. That is exactly why people want to watch it unfold without knowing the final outcome.

But once Game of Thrones confirms his name ends up in the White Book, it changes the whole angle. The question isn’t what Dunk becomes anymore in the future because the original series already answered that. Now the real suspense comes from watching how he earns that reputation, what battles he faces, and what kind of man he has to become to deserve four full pages in the Kingsguard’s record.

Even with Dunk’s destination confirmed, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ still works because it doesn’t rely on the same shock-heavy style. The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg novellas and focuses mainly on character growth and episodic adventures rather than constant endgame twists.

Besides, Dunk’s bond with his young squire Egg also gives the story its heart. Their relationship, their struggles on the road, and the way they brush up against powerful figures in Westeros is where the real tension comes from. And even if viewers know Dunk becomes a Kingsguard knight, there’s still plenty that remains unspoiled. Seeing how he gets there, what it costs him, and what he loses along the way can still hook the readers.
