10. Karen and Beverly – ‘Will & Grace’

Karen’s long-running rivalry with fellow socialite Beverly Leslie is one of the most entertaining dynamics in ‘Will & Grace‘. Beverly frequently appears just to take jabs at Karen, mocking her drinking habits and failed relationships while Karen fires back instantly, often targeting Beverly’s height with her signature sharp wit. Their encounters rarely remain civil and escalate into hilariously absurd situations as they compete to outdo each other with insults, even clashing over Rosario.

9. Kyle and Maxine – ‘Living Single’

The rivalry between these two evolves from heated tension to an enemies-to-lovers situation. When near each other, they cannot stop bickering. You see this silly banter pretty early on when the two argue over a parking space. Yet their constant bickering hides the bounds of affection that often lead them to become romantically involved even before they become the endgame.

8. CC and Niles – ‘The Nanny’

Another couple with origins as cutthroat enemies, CC and Niles first meet when Niles is introduced as CC’s business partner, Maxwell’s British butler. They instantly take a dislike towards each other, which suddenly blurs sometime in season 6. At one point, they even have a ‘Monica and Chandler’ situation when the two give in for a night and wake up together!

7. J.D. and the Janitor – ‘Scrubs’

With these two, ‘The Janitor’ is usually the one insinuating trouble, but JD has no qualms returning the favor. JD is a physician in the ‘Sacred Heart Hospital’, which serves as the setting for ‘Scrubs’. Their rivalry can be summed up in pranks and bullying, like the scene in ‘His Story III’ when the janitor locks JD in a water tower!

6. Frasier and Niles Crane – ‘Frasier’

These two brothers are consistently trying to prove themselves the better son and doctor at every opportunity. You see their rivalry blown out of proportion countless times, delivering insanely comedic moments. At one point, they even purchase a hotel in hopes of making it big, only for it to end in a total disaster.

5. Holt and Wuntch – ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’

Captain Holt might be the calmest person in the room, but that’s until Wuntch appears. The rivalry between the two is not verbal or direct, but played out through a series of gaining the upper hand in mutual tasks. The two were also former friends, and the relationship adds to their bitterness towards one another. They often end up in comical moments, including the ‘New Captain’ episode, where Holt has to dress up as a mascot because of Wuntch.

4. Phil Dunphy and Gil Thorpe – ‘Modern Family’

Now these two take workplace rivalry to a whole new level. As real estate agents, Gil and Phil are constantly trying to take each other’s clients, and Gil can get pretty aggressive, humiliating Phil in the process. You see this in ‘The Feud’ where Gil and his family basically gang up on Phil and his son Luke, which leads to a funny showdown.

3. Jerry and Newman – ‘Seinfeld’

The rivalry between these two was one of the strongest pulls of the show, and the countless compilations of them being at each other’s throats prove the same. For Newman, it’s using his status over Jerry, as a mailman, and for Jerry, it’s the disdain he pours into greeting and tolerating him. Their comical bitterness can be understood with just their casual exchange of “Hello, Newman” and “Hello, Jerry,” which never gets old!

2. Jim and Dwight – ‘The Office’

From funny dress-ups to aggressive workplace comebacks, Dwight and Jim are always trying to one-up each other. Jim notoriously pranks Dwight every chance he gets, as seen in the scene where he sends fake faxes “from the future” to Dwight. Dwight, on the other hand, has no qualms throwing it back with equal measure and is often more strategic.

1. Sheldon and Wil – ‘The Big Bang Theory’

The dynamic between Sheldon Cooper and Wil Wheaton defines arch nemesis rather comically. The feud began when Wheaton failed to show up at a convention, putting him in Sheldon’s bad books. The two can’t resist taking a dig at each other, though Sheldon is more passionate about the insults. There’s even an episode dedicated to their rivalry titled ‘The Wheaton Recurrence’, which has Sheldon screaming ‘WHEATON’ in true comic villain style!
