HBO Confirms Release Windows For ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff And ‘Euphoria’ Season 3

HBO has just given fans of two of its biggest shows, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Euphoria’, reason to cheer. At the 2025 Emmy Awards, HBO CEO Casey Bloys dropped some highly anticipated updates about when both ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, the next Westeros spinoff, and ‘Euphoria’ season 3 will finally hit screens.

For fans who have been waiting through delays, rumors, and endless speculation, this feels like the light at the end of a very long tunnel.

The world of ‘Game of Thrones’ refuses to die, and honestly, why should it? George R.R. Martin’s universe is so vast and layered that fans will likely never get tired of exploring it. HBO is now banking on that longevity with ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, based on Martin’s popular Dunk and Egg novellas. The series stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as his unlikely squire, Egg.

Together, the two embark on adventures across Westeros in stories that have long been fan favorites. These novellas, The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight, were later published as a collected volume under the same name, and they’ve been begging for an adaptation for years. Bloys confirmed the spinoff will debut in January 2026, finally giving fans a concrete timeframe after months of uncertainty.

Originally expected to arrive in 2025, the show was quietly delayed. While no official explanation was provided, most assumed it came down to post-production complexities. Moreover, with ‘House of the Dragon’ season 3 aiming for a June 2026 premiere, releasing ‘Seven Kingdoms’ in January leaves breathing room between the two series. Of course, some may be surprised at just how different this new series will be.

Unlike the massive dragon battles and sweeping political intrigue of the previous shows, Dunk and Egg’s stories are more intimate. For viewers used to fiery dragon duels, this may feel like a change of pace. However, fans have been yearning for something that feels fresh yet still rooted in the rich lore of Westeros. So, if executed well, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ could deliver exactly that.

‘Euphoria’ Will Return In Spring 2026 With A Major Time Jump

While fantasy fans were celebrating Westeros news, HBO also dropped an equally exciting update for modern drama lovers. After years of uncertainty and frustrating delays, ‘Euphoria’ season 3 has been locked for a spring 2026 release. Casey Bloys confirmed the news in an interview with Deadline. However, he stopped short of announcing an exact date. Given the show’s rocky production timeline, it was originally announced in 2022, faced multiple delays, and only started filming in January 2025. This is still a huge step forward.

Zendaya, who plays the show’s troubled protagonist Rue, has already teased one major shift: season 3 will feature a time jump. That decision feels necessary, as she put it herself: “There’s only so much high school drama you can deal with.” Fans can expect the story to move beyond the characters’ teen years into more adult territory, which opens the door for fresh themes and challenges. Bloys also addressed the challenge of keeping ‘Euphoria’ afloat.

“I’ve never had a show with that many legitimate movie stars,” he said, pointing to the scheduling nightmare of balancing Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer’s increasingly busy Hollywood careers. Still, despite the complications, the network seems committed to giving fans what they’ve been waiting for. As for whether season 3 will be the end, HBO is leaving that decision in the hands of the producers.
