What Happens In ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season Finale?
The much-anticipated final episode of ‘House of the Dragon‘ season 2 opens with new characters, as Ser Tyland Lannister goes to Essos in search of allies for Prince Aemond Targaryen. He succeeds in his negotiation and gets the Essos armies in return for The Step Stones, adding significant power to Team Green’s side.
Back at King’s Landing, things are as messy and complicated. Aegon, a king badly injured after his brother’s attack on him, is told by Larys Strong to flee the city against Aemond’s pretensions. He resists at first but decides to take his advice and flees in a carriage with Larys.
Another tension-filled scene in the finale shows Alicent consoling Helaena until Aemond arrives there, fresh from some senseless attack on a small town with Vhagar. Aemond then tries to recruit Helaena and her dragon, Dreamfyre, for his cause but to no avail. Helaena also makes a rather unsolicited death prediction for Aemond, heightening the tension even further. Alicent thereafter resolves to flee to Dragonstone out of concern for her family’s safety.
In Dragonstone, the dragonseeds clash with a culture different from their own and that is Rhaenyra’s son Jace. Rhaenyra then proposes knighthood in return for successful missions in solution to the problem. But soon enough, Rhaenyra is summoned to Harrenhal out of fear of Daemon’s betrayal. On the other hand, Daemon at Harrenhal is also ready with forces.

Daemon’s Vision And The Shocking Climactic Twist Sets Ground For Explosive Season 3
In another major twist, Daemon has a vision at the blood-soaked tree in Godswood, which reveals the prophecy for ‘The Song of Ice and Fire.’ He sees a chain of events: a war more destructive than ever seen, an Ice King arising, and from the ashes, a new Dragon Queen would rise, with three dragon eggs—an ostensible nod to Daenerys Targaryen from ‘Game of Thrones‘.
He is further shown a vision of Rhaenyra sitting on the Iron Throne, whom he consequently acknowledges to be the rightful queen. Hence, upon Rhaenyra’s arrival at Harrenhal, Daemon kneels before her in recognition of her fate.
The finale’s climax has the most surprising twist: Alicent reaches Dragonstone in the middle of the night, begging for Rhaenyra’s protection for her and Helaena. As it happens, Rhaenyra insists that Aegon must be killed, saying that people will never abide by her as a conqueror while he is alive. Surprisingly, Alicent agrees to have her own son killed.
The episode concludes with a Alicent cloaked and walking away, ready to leave behind her former life, along with her sons. This set the stage for an inevitable war as the dragonseeds are also ready for battle.
The episode ends with the Hightower fleet, Daeron Targaryen’s dragon, Lannisterian troops, Stark soldiers, Tyland Lannister’s new fleet, and, finally, the ships of the Seasnake—all bound for Harrenhal. At this point, viewers can be best assured that a big battle is going to start next, with all characters closing in on what is going to be an explosive season 3.
