‘The Boys‘ season 4 introduced viewers to a brand new supe in the form of Firecracker, played by Valorie Curry. Firecracker is a right-wing social media personality and podcaster with a fiery temperament and conservative views that match her name. However, Valorie Curry, who plays the character, is the polar opposite.
A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and gay herself, Curry has opened up about her experience playing the character that is recruited to join The Seven to replace Queen Maeve. Her character holds a fierce rivalry with Starlight, which makes her one of the secondary antagonists in season 4. Here’s what the actress said about playing the character at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Valorie Curry On The Future Of Firecracker
Valorie Curry’s Firecracker on ‘The Boys‘ has been a treat to watch since season 4. As an antagonist, her cunning and ambitious nature makes her Homelander’s most devoted follower. She also manages to conjure up an unsettling maternal relationship with him. Fans received the character of Firecracker very well, and also lauded Curry for being able to portray a character so opposed to her own personally ideologies.
During the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, Valorie Curry opened up to The Hollywood Reporter on her role as Firecracker and also joining ‘The Boys‘ universe. When asked about what it was like to join in season 4, she replied enthusiastically with “It feels like showing up to a party, right? When it is like raging at its height…it feels like it’s getting to celebrate that growth with them and what they’ve all built together and it’s just an honor to be a part of it”.
She also shared that she enjoys playing the character and values how much people “understand the satire and appreciate it“. But when asked about her hopes for Firecracker during the final season of the show, she gave a very straightforward and borderline funny response. “I mean, I hope she dies,” she said, adding that it should be Sage who kills her.
She also stated that she is hopeful for a spin-off of the show with her character in it as well.

Valorie Curry On What It Takes To Play Firecracker
When asked about what it takes to get into character, and whether she studies people with similar views and commentary, she said that she never really had to as it is pretty “unavoidable” to not learn from it in the context of the real-world. She’d rather keep the character grounded rather than looking outside for camouflaging as it is pretty easy to lose yourself to it, according to her.
Valorie Curry has certainly been a great addition to season 4 of ‘The Boys‘, and only the next and final season of the show will let fans know whether she succumbs to the side-effects of her medicines, goes out with the fall of Homelander, or somehow magically survives whatever is set to unfold in the final season to go on with her conservatism and right-wing views.
