Jensen Ackles Endorses Antony Starr For A Role He Thinks He Is Too Old To Play

In Short
  • Jensen Ackles endorsed Anthony Starr for the role of Albert Wesker in a live-action 'Resident Evil' adaptation.
  • Anthony Starr expressed concerns about his age, stating he feels too old for the role at 50.
  • Fans believe Starr could still fit the character, as Wesker is often portrayed as a powerful figure who does not age normally.

In a fun moment during a recent interview for the final season of ‘The Boys‘ on Prime Video, Jensen Ackles showed his support for co-star Antony Starr, saying he would be a great choice to play Albert Wesker in a live-action version of ‘Resident Evil‘.

Fans have been excited about this idea for a long time, as Starr is well known for playing the intense Homelander. Naturally, many think he could pull off Wesker, who is a smart and powerful villain known for his blonde hair and big ego.

So people keep bringing this up,” Starr said in the interview, per Yahoo. “The only thing I have in common with that is blonde hair, which I’ve gotten rid of as you can see. I think you probably need someone younger. I’m 50.”

His reaction spread fast among fans, many of whom already see similarities between Antony Starr’s Homelander and Albert Wesker from ‘Resident Evil.’ Both characters have a calm but dangerous presence, which is why people think Starr would fit the role so well.

The exchange also shows how well Ackles and Starr get along, both on-screen and in real life. They have shared some memorable scenes in the show, and their chemistry stands out. Ackles’ support has given more attention to the idea, especially as people talk about new ‘Resident Evil‘ projects.

However, there are reports that Zack Cregger’s upcoming reboot may not include game characters like Wesker.

Why Fans Want Antony Starr as Albert Wesker

Fans have rightfully pointed out that age might not really matter. In the ‘Resident Evil‘ series, Albert Wesker is often shown as a powerful character who does not age in a normal way. Because of that, many believe Antony Starr could still be a great choice.

Starr has admitted that he does not know much about Wesker beyond the basic similarities people talk about.

I don’t even know what it is, man,” Starr said of the Wesker role. “I’m an actor from New Zealand, and if people offer you a job you go yeah, cuz there’s not many jobs in New Zealand. So I’m trained into thinking like, if someone said, do you want that? Yeah. I want that! What is it?

Even so, all the fan support, along with Jensen Ackles backing him, seems to have amused him.

Whether Antony Starr ends up playing Albert Wesker in a live-action ‘Resident Evil‘ project is still unclear, but Jensen Ackles’ support has definitely added to the excitement.

For now, fans can only hope that his “that would be amazing” comment actually comes true, with or without the blonde hair.
