‘The White Lotus’ has become a TV sensation, and rightly so. With its breathtaking locations, unpredictable character arcs, and mad murders, it’s a show that can hook anyone. After Hawaii and Italy, Season 3 took viewers to Thailand. The cast was brilliant. However, one actress who didn’t make the cut despite auditioning with much vigor is Jessica Capshaw.
The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star recently revealed the role that she would’ve played in the comedy-drama series if she had landed the part. In all her humility, she also praised the actress who ended up on screen, and it’s Leslie Bibb.
Jessica Capshaw Auditioned To Play Kate Bohr, But Admits Leslie Bibb Was “Fantastic”
In ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, a host of characters reached the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Thailand. Among them was Leslie Bibb’s Kate Bohr who was vacationing with her childhood friends Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) and Laurie (Carrie Coon).
Recently, on Camilla Luddington’s Call It What It Is podcast, her former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ co-star Jessica Capshaw joined her and revealed she lost Kate’s role to Bibb. She admitted, “I auditioned for Leslie Bibb’s part and I remember getting to the audition and being like — I mean, I’m just such a huge fan of the show, so I was giddy with excitement.”

Well, the casting process can be quite gruelling, and one has to be right for the part, which is not a commentary on their talent. Capshaw is well aware of this and doesn’t hold any ill feelings about the audition’s outcome. “It’s always so fun to put together an audition and see where it goes, and then see it come to fruition, because what’s unbelievably remarkable and wild about the casting process is we’re all very different, we all have a very different take on it,” she added.
Bibb made Kate her own – an LA girl who has found a Church-going community in Texas with her husband. She hasn’t forgotten her upbringing, but she is unapologetic about the frivolous life of the rich. Kate’s girlfriends aren’t sympathetic, either. Capshaw believes the Bibb was wonderful in the complex role: “Watching Leslie, I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ I was so in and I thought she was fantastic.”
The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actress Is Determined To Be On ‘The White Lotus’ In Future
The allure of ‘The White Lotus’ is such that Jessica Capshaw will not give up the idea of joining the series. Rejections are a part of the acting industry, right? So, she plans to keep trying to book a stay at the luxurious White Lotus in the show’s upcoming seasons. After the explosive ending of Season 3, the future prospects of the series seem bright.
She reflected on how this positive attitude helped her while landing the role of Dr. Arizona Robbins on ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Capshaw emphasised, “I’ll audition, I’ll keep auditioning. That’s what I did for Grey’s. I loved Grey’s Anatomy and I was like, ‘I’ll audition all the times!’ And I took three times, so I’m hoping it’ll just take two for Mike White and The White Lotus. I’ll just keep going.”
