It’s been nearly a decade since Rory Gilmore dropped the four words at the end of ‘Gilmore Girls‘ revival, and yet, fans still haven’t stopped talking about it. The ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival, ‘A Year in the Life’, ended with one of television’s most debated cliffhangers and left viewers divided.
‘Gilmore Girls‘ fans have gone back and forth thinking, was it brilliant symmetry or a storytelling betrayal? Was Amy Sherman-Palladino’s “full-circle” vision worth it? And, most importantly, why did Rory’s story have to end that way? Now, the woman at the centre of it all, Lorelai Gilmore herself, Lauren Graham, has finally shared her thoughts on that polarising finale.
The ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival Ending Split Fans

When Netflix brought ‘Gilmore Girls‘ back to life in 2016, fans were expecting comfort, coffee, sarcasm, and all the nostalgia. But we saw a curveball that nobody saw coming. Rory’s confession, “Mom?“, “Yeah?“, “I’m pregnant,” closed the revival on an unsettling note. Sure, it was poetic, kind of open-ended, the same mother-daughter cycle continuing, but not everyone liked it.

Viewers dissected every detail, argued over what the ending meant, and who the father could be. The show’s creators had always intended it this way, but after nearly ten years of speculation, fans were split right down the middle. But through all that noise, Lauren Graham was having the time of her life.
In a chat with Variety ahead of her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Graham said she was completely at peace with how things turned out, even if the audience wasn’t. Lauren recalled, “I was on clouds every single day at work. I felt like the work was really good and the episodes were really beautiful.”
Why Lauren Graham Is Currently ‘Team Logan’

At Lauren’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Lauren was surrounded by familiar faces from Stars Hollow, Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Yanic Truesdale, and, of course, Matt Czuchry, the very man most fans believe to be Rory’s baby’s father.

While Amy took the mic first and delivered a heartfelt speech, Lauren stepped up and pulled off something in the most humorous way possible. Graham teased, “I never pick a team,” she teased, glancing toward Czuchry. Then, she looked around with a grin
and said, “But Czuchry’s here, so… points for Logan!” She went ahead and added, “Ventimiglia? No. Padalecki? No. Points for Logan! It’s an ongoing system, it isn’t done yet.“
Lauren thinks the revival was about coming home. She loved every minute, every scene, and every second spent in the world. While the fandom still debates who fathered Rory’s child or whether the ending was too cruel, Lauren’s grateful she got to do it all again. So whether you’re Team Jess, Team Dean, or proudly flying the Team Logan flag, maybe it’s time to take a cue from Lauren Graham herself. Sip your coffee, enjoy the nostalgia, and let Stars Hollow stay exactly as magical (and messy) as it’s always been!
