Lauren Graham just dropped a behind-the-scenes bombshell that even longtime ‘Gilmore Girls‘ fans probably didn’t see coming. The actress revealed that while Lorelai Gilmore had plenty of romances on screen, a few of those connections actually spilled into real life too.
During a candid podcast chat, Graham got real about dating co-stars, protecting her private life, and why spending 15-hour days on set made things a little complicated.
Lauren Graham Confesses She Dated Some Of Lorelai Gilmore’s Love Interests

Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore throughout ‘Gilmore Girls‘ from 2000 to 2007, made the surprising confession during the April 2 episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. Looking back, she admitted that questions about her dating life always made her uncomfortable, especially while the show was at its peak.

“It always feels weird to be asked, and many times I was lying because it such a strange thing to talk about, which I still mainly don’t talk about,” she revealed. “[Dating is] something that you don’t know what’s going to happen. I think some people are built for it, some people don’t find it personally vulnerable. And it was also, I have to say, it wasn’t my focus at the time, so it felt strange. Like, I’m a working person and I’m in a career and I don’t know. It just was odd.”
Still, not every headline was made up. Graham admitted that she really did date a few actors who played Lorelai’s love interests on the hit series. She laughed while explaining, “Yes, and dating is a real big word for some of the experiences. But you know, you’re there 14, 15 hours. Who else are you going to meet?” Honestly, fair point.
One Fan-Favorite ‘Gilmore Girls’ Romance Never Happened Off Screen

Graham didn’t reveal which co-stars she dated, but Lorelai definitely had no shortage of love interests over the show’s seven seasons. Her on-screen romances included Christopher Hayden, Max Medina, Peyton Sanders, Alex Lesman, Jason Stiles, and Luke Danes.

If you’re wondering whether Team Luke won in real life too, the answer is nope. When podcast host Alex Cooper asked about Scott Patterson, Graham quickly shut that theory down and confirmed he wasn’t one of the mystery men.
The conversation also turned to Graham’s private life. When Cooper asked whether she was naturally private or simply trying to survive life in the spotlight, Graham admitted it was “a little bit of both.” She also reflected on how her life has never followed the timeline that society usually expects.
“I also think I have led, in some ways, an unconventional [life],” Graham explained. “There is an age at which most … a lot of people do the same thing. There’s an age at which a lot of people get married. There’s an age at which a lot of people have kids. And then there are people who just are not on that timing. And so I don’t know whether to be the spokesperson for that or apologetic about that.”
Graham dated her ‘Parenthood‘ co-star Peter Krause from 2010 until 2021 and never had children. She admitted she now thinks very differently about relationships and the future. Instead of waiting for life to happen on its own, she wants to be intentional about what comes next.
