Ralph Fiennes may have just sparked the biggest ‘Harry Potter‘ casting buzz yet. And it happened in the most unexpected way, right in the middle of a red carpet interview.
The actor, who terrified fans as Voldemort in the original film franchise, was asked about the HBO reboot. And his answer sounded a little too confident for someone who’s supposedly out of the loop.
Ralph Fiennes Lets Voldemort’s Casting Secret Slip

Fiennes, who played Voldemort in the original Harry Potter films, replied on the red carpet who he would choose to replace him as the villain in HBO’s new series. Instead of throwing out a random suggestion, he responded as if the decision was already made. He asked, “Well, I’m told they’re already filled, aren’t they?”

The interviewer didn’t stop there and asked again, saying if anyone could do Voldemort the way Ralph did, who should it be? That’s when Ralph dropped the name that has everyone talking: “I’ve already said, I think Cillian Murphy is very good. Very good. Very good choice. I think they’ve cast it, haven’t they?”
A second later, Ralph seemed to realise he might have gone too far. As it hit him that this information might not actually be public, he quickly added, “I don’t know. I thought they had.” Even though HBO hasn’t officially revealed Voldemort’s casting yet, Ralph made it sound like the choice was already final.
The New ‘Harry Potter Trio’

While Voldemort’s casting remains officially a mystery, HBO has already confirmed the three new actors stepping into the iconic roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Dominic McLaughlin will star as Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton and Alistair Stout will portray Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and lead director Mark Mylod also released a statement about the casting process. They said, “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.”
They also praised the trio’s talent, saying it was “wonderful to behold,” and added that they couldn’t wait for audiences to see their magic together onscreen.
