We all felt the sadness when Yellowstone ended with its fifth and final season in 2024! The series definitely stretches the Western title beyond known limits, and we couldn’t help but get immersed in John Dutton and his chaotic family as they get into land battles.

Now, John is no more, and neither is the series continuing, to cure the addiction it left behind. Fortunately for you, we still have a good number of Western shows to keep you engrossed in the world!

8. The Madison

‘Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan dropped this new series, and it’s everything you can expect from a slow-paced western drama. ‘The Madison‘ follows the Clyburn family that relocates to Madison County after the death of the family patriarch.

There are many contrasts between country living and city life, and the family is uprooted from its home. Michelle Pfeiffer, along with the rest of the cast, is making the first season look promising.

This next one has Timothy Olyphant taking center stage as US Marshal Raylan Givens. Raylan is assigned back to Kentucky after an impulsive decision does more harm than good.

On his return, he continues to fight crime even when Boyd Crowder makes it nearly impossible. ‘Justified‘ has many parallels with ‘Yellowstone‘, as you see gangs and feuds add to the drama through thriller-style moments.

6. Dark Winds

Zahn McClarnon flips the narrative of Western sheriffs by portraying Joe Leaphorn with a unique style in this crime drama. ‘Dark Winds’ follows Joe as he seeks to solve a string of murders that occur on the reservation he is a part of.

Indigenous cultures are often very underrepresented in Westerns, but through the reservation’s narrative, ‘Dark Winds’ nails it just right!

5. Crossroad Springs

This family drama bears a heavy resemblance to ‘Yellowstone’s‘ family subplots set in a multi-generational ranch. ‘Crossroad Springs’ James Hamilton as he returns to the town, back to his family’s Red Oak Ranch.

After the long hiatus, he encounters love and spirituality amidst feuds. Think ‘Virgin River’ but with ranch politics, and you have a solid picture!

With beautiful shots of the Canadian wilderness setting the backdrop for slow living, ‘Heartland’ is for all you feel-good series lovers. The show focuses on Amy Fleming as she builds a ranch life while experiencing love and loss throughout its 19 seasons.

This one will definitely make you want to ditch your city life for some old-school country living!

3. Sheriff Country

Who doesn’t love a good crime drama in a Western setting, especially when deep emotional arcs spin the narrative! ‘Sheriff Country‘ introduces Mickey Fox as the moral and literal police of Edgewater, and you can’t help but get immersed in her investigative journey.

Morena Baccarin puts on a convincing performance as a daughter bearing the weight of her father’s crimes while balancing motherhood.

2. Walker

The 2021 ‘Walker’ follows Ranger Cordell Walker, played by Jared Padalecki in the series, who returns to his town after the death of his wife. His attempts to reunite with his kids, however, clash with crime, putting him in near-death situations.

With a total of four seasons, this reboot is a relatively quick binge-watch. You also see Jared Padalecki’s wife, Genevieve Padalecki, appearing as Walker’s late wife in the series!

Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly emotionally pull you into the small town life of ‘Ransom Canyon’ where feuds run high between ranch families and corporate control. There’s a little bit of everything in this for Western drama lovers, including high-stakes power struggles and romantic subplots!

Also, Netflix has already renewed the series for another season, so you’ll be seeing Staten Kirkland and his crew back on screen soon enough!
