The world of ‘The Boys’ is not over, even when the show is ready to close its explosive final season. In fact, the next chapter is already taking shape, and it’s going backward in time.
The prequel, ‘Vought Rising’, is currently planned to be released in 2027, and Jensen Ackles will once again take Soldier Boy’s role. This is not merely a continuation, but a further exploration of the foundations of all that fans adore (and dread) about this universe.
Soldier Boy Takes Center Stage as ‘The Boys’ Universe Grows Bigger

‘Vought Rising’, which is set in the 1950s, is set to delve into the history of the shady corporation and the dark origins of its most dangerous heroes. Soldier Boy is in the middle of it all, way before the mess of modern-day supes replaced it. The fact that Ackles has already returned is weighty, particularly following his memorable introduction in season 3.

However, this time the emphasis is turned inwards, towards who Soldier Boy was before he was a symbol of brute force and arrogance. Combined with Aya Cash returning as Stormfront (or her previous character), the show is already becoming more than a spin-off. It is a character study in a period drama, complete with all the violence and satire that fans desire.
Eric Kripke has already hinted behind the scenes that several episodes are falling into place. Still, the postponement until 2027 is not a matter of indecisiveness, but of size. The team is obviously taking its time to get this right with heavy visual effects work and global rollout plans.
Before The Future Begins, Season 5 Changes Everything

Naturally, fans cannot jump into the past before they have some business to do in the present. ‘The Boys’ season 5 will push the main conflict to its limit.
Homelander is now at the height of his authority, and Billy Butcher is racing against time with a scheme that would eradicate all supes permanently. And then there’s Soldier Boy, caught in the middle of a deeply personal, volatile family dynamic that’s far from resolved.

That tension is enough to get fans excited. The conflict between father and son, between Homelander and Soldier Boy, is like a time bomb, and Kripke has made it clear that they are going to go all the way before the curtain goes down. Therefore, the flagship series might be coming to an end.
However, ‘The Boys’ universe is not decelerating; it is changing. And when ‘Vought Rising’ does what it promises, fans are not merely getting more content. They are getting the source of the madness itself.
