‘The Boys’ finale is hours away from its premiere, and already, we’re anticipating who’ll take the first hit! From what Jessie T. Usher has to say, it looks like A-Train will indeed be a preferred candidate.
Now with Billy Butcher, The Boys, and the Resistance joining in on stopping Homelander and Vought, we already know that a brutal battle is forthcoming. Seeing A-Train’s past trajectory and his redemption arc in season 4, we suspect that Homelander will have something to do with his end.
A-Train is Not in Homelander’s Good Books, And That Might Mean Death

While talking about his character’s impending fall, Usher hinted at an “untimely end” in store for Vought’s speedy Supe after a big face-off with Antony Starr’s Homelander. He told ABS-CBN, “I saw the end coming long before it came and I was glad that I had an aired-out, isolated moment with Antony.”
Usher added, “He’s like a person who I’ve built a lot of the driving force of what motivated this character or changed this character. I was happy that we were able to end it in a moment that was shared just between us.“

Ironically, A-Train is the first supe we are introduced to in season 1. Unlike heroic displays, we see him step into the frame by accidentally killing Hughie’s girlfriend while running. Serving as one of Vought’s Seven, he goes through an unstable evolution. From abusing Compound V to being kicked out, we know Vought has no qualms dispensing his character.
Yet, A-Train’s visible disapproval of several of Vought’s ways, including Homelander’s massacre, sets him up for major growth and a tragic fate. Even Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell) dished on A-Train’s goodbye: “It’s not going to be a fairytale ending in any regard.“
How ‘The Boys’ Season 4 Makes A-Train Sympathetic

In ‘The Boys‘ Season 4, we see A-Train allying with the Resistance and serving as a mole. He has also had his fair share of issues, ranging from Homelander’s bullying to the obvious racism he endures, and all of that culminates in him stepping up to fight for a good cause.

He somehow manages to transform from a casual witness to a doomed victim we wish to see escaping the clutches of Vought. Undoubtedly, the ending of season 4 makes A-Train’s growth come full circle. He is seen leaving the Seven and escaping after Homelander discovers that he had a chip inserted to spy on them. This is where the upcoming season comes into play.
From the trailers, we see very little of A-train, but he is established as a “friend” of Starlight. Morally grey characters that end up turning good usually follow the arc of “Redemption Equals Death”. The final season also hints at this with Homelander’s voice narrating, “To those who seek to destroy me, the non-believers…and backstabbers, I offer oblivion.”
In Homelander’s eyes, A-Train is a backstabber, and so his character’s end is near. From the trailer and what Jessie T. Usher predicts, it looks like A-train’s end will be anything but happy. What’s left to see is who will deliver the killshot.
