‘The Boys’ Season 5: Why Fans Should Be Excited For The Grand Finale

As ‘The Boys’ Barrels toward its highly anticipated fifth and final season, emotions are running high among fans of the diabolical Prime Video series. With the wild chaos, dark satire, and jaw-dropping violence the show is known for, expectations are through the roof.

However, recent updates from cast members Nathan Mitchell and Jensen Ackles offer some exciting clarity on what lies ahead.

Nathan Mitchell, who now plays the reinvented Black Noir II, promises a finale full of unexpected character journeys and intense moments that even longtime fans won’t see coming. Meanwhile, Jensen Ackles, fresh off wrapping his scenes as Soldier Boy, confirms that production is nearly complete. All signs point to ‘The Boys’ ending on an explosive, unforgettable note.

One of the most intriguing elements heading into season 5 is the evolution of Black Noir II. While the original Black Noir, met his brutal end at the hands of Homelander in season 3, Nathan Mitchell’s return as the “replacement” in season 4 added a lot of new layers. Mitchell recently teased to ScreenRant that we’ll see even more of Noir’s journey in season 5. He hinted that the arcs are “not what you’re expecting” and moments that are “very gross”.

More importantly, he spoke of an “amazing conclusion,” both for the show and for Noir II’s story. That’s huge. Black Noir II has already broken rules, removing his mask, speaking openly, and sitting in Homelander’s chair, small but telling signs of rebellion. He isn’t just blindly following Vought’s orders. So, will he continue to serve as Homelander’s puppet, or will he carve out his own identity?

While fans anxiously await any official footage or a premiere date, there’s good news on the horizon: ‘The Boys’ season 5 is nearly done filming. According to Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, he wrapped his scenes on June 9 and mentioned that the rest of the production will finish by next month. “I just finished The Boys on Tuesday [June 9], and I think I’ve got all my stuff done. But I don’t know. You never know. They might have to bring me back for some other stuff,” Ackles told CBR.

While he kept it vague (as expected), the key takeaway is clear: the finish line is in sight. With a production wrap expected in July, an early-to-mid 2026 release is not just possible, it’s likely. And that means we’re only a year or less away from witnessing the final battle in the most unpredictable superhero saga of our time. The fifth season is expected to deliver everything fans love about the show.

However, perhaps even more importantly, it aims to conclude this wild journey in a way that feels earned. We’re talking about a show that’s never pulled its punches. From season 1’s opening with a human explosion to season 4’s grotesque supe orgies and dismemberments, ‘The Boys’ has continuously escalated. Will Butcher find redemption? Will Homelander finally fall? And what will become of the world left behind?
