Gavin Casalegno Floated A Shocking Plot Twist For Jeremiah
After the season 3 finale aired in September 2025, many viewers believed ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty‘ had reached its final chapter. After Belly’s complicated love triangle with the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, she finally chose her first love.
But the story didn’t end there. Prime Video soon announced that the franchise would continue with a feature film that would wrap up Belly’s journey and bring the entire story to a proper closure.

As excitement around the movie builds, Casalegno joked about the kind of twist he would like to see for Jeremiah. While speaking to Us Weekly, he revealed his wild idea. Laughing, he said, “I did request a death scene,” and added, “I think it would be so dramatic and such a twist for the fans who think they know exactly where this story is going.”
However, the request comes at a tricky time for the franchise. We’ve seen Jeremiah go from the “safe” choice to a character caught in the middle of intense social media discourse, especially after the Season 3 finale saw him finally move on with a new romance while Belly and Conrad found their way back to each other in Paris. Now, Gavin seems ready to trade the sunshine for some adventures.
Casalegno On ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Movie Secrecy
Despite his bold suggestion, Casalegno insists he has no real information about the movie’s storyline. In fact, the production team appears to be deliberately keeping the actors in the dark so that no spoilers slip out.

Comparing himself to Marvel actor Tom Holland, who has a reputation for leaking plot details, Casalegno laughed and said that if he knew anything, he would probably give it away accidentally. He also made it clear that he supports whatever direction the story ultimately takes. For him, the most important thing is that the ending works for fans and stays true to Jenny Han’s vision.
“I want to challenge the audience,” he explained. The actor added, “Jeremiah is always the one holding everything together… Seeing the fallout of a truly tragic ending for him… it would be an acting challenge I’d love to take on.”
While the movie’s plot is still a mystery, Han previously hinted that the film will explore another major milestone in Belly’s life and will include a wedding. Right now, we have to wait for the teaser to drop!
