With ‘The Boys’ about to close its explosive run with season 5, the franchise is already looking into the future. Among the most interesting future projects is ‘Vought Rising’, a prequel series about Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
Fans may think that the spinoff will just be a replica of the same chaotic energy as the original show. However, according to comments from Laz Alonso, who plays Mother’s Milk, the new series could bring a noticeably different tone while still maintaining the franchise’s signature edge. And given the time frame the story is set in, such differences can make the show even more provocative.
‘Vought Rising’ Is Set To Explore Vought’s Dark Origins

‘Vought Rising’ will be set in the 1950s. The show is set to follow the Vought’s early history internationally and how the corporation started to influence the superhero world way before the events of the main series. The story will allegedly be based on Soldier Boy, who is played by Jensen Ackles, and Stormfront, who is played by Aya Cash, as they attempt to solve a mysterious murder when Vought comes to power.

During his appearance at Emerald City Comic Con, Alonso suggested that the prequel would be heavily culture-based. It means that the humor, politics, and social commentary of the show will be based on the 1950s environment. It’s something that may make its satire even more stinging than normal.
Since ‘The Boys’ already borders on the extreme with its unapologetic violence and humor, a historical setting would allow the franchise to become something familiar and unexpected at the same time. In other words, the show might still be outrageous, just in a very different way.
Soldier Boy’s Story Still Has Plenty To Explore

Soldier Boy quickly became one of the most memorable characters of ‘The Boys’ when he first appeared in the show. His vintage bravado, convoluted history, and outrageous relationship with Homelander immediately made him one of the most memorable characters in the series, with its crowded cast. A prequel is the best chance to explore more of that history.

The audience will finally get to watch Soldier Boy in the period when he was regarded as the greatest hero of America, way before the cracks in his image began to appear. The combination of him and Stormfront also leaves the possibility of a very interesting dynamic, as both characters share a highly controversial past in the universe.
The prospect of delving into the origins of Vought’s superhero empire is too tempting. ‘The Boys’ has always been about revealing the ugly truth of power. ‘Vought Rising’ merely shifts that notion back in time. The show could prove that ‘The Boys‘ still has plenty of stories left to tell. Yes, even after the main storyline ends.
