When Chad Michael Murray Tried To Back Out Of A Ridiculous ‘One Tree Hill’ Scene

There are some moments in ‘One Tree Hill‘ that live rent-free in our minds. But not all of them are for the right reasons. Surely, there were rivalries, heartbreaks, and unforgettable dialogues, but among them, one scene has almost become a joke.

And now, Chad Michel Murray, who played the show’s beloved Lucas Scott, is finally revealing how he once tried to avoid becoming a part of a scene. Even then, he thought the whole thing absolutely made no sense from the beginning.

Back when Chad Mitchell was not the meme king, Murray was just focusing on making his place in One Tree Hill. But amid all the scenes he was working on day and night, one scene made absolutely no sense to him. During a chat with former co-star Jamnes Lafferty, Murray almost went down on his knees begging the writers to leave his character out of this bizarre storyline.

While talking about it, he recalled how he repeatedly pleaded, saying his presence in the scene made absolutely no sense. Not only that, but Murray even started threatening and warned that the scene would turn out to be terrible. Unfortunately for him, his instincts were spot-on. Even today, just talking about that scene almost made him cringe to the core. And part of the reason is that it has become a meme culture.

For those who are unfamiliar with the scene Murray is referring to, Murray has provided some additional context. Murray’s character’s father was about to receive a heart transplant when the hilariously implausible thing happened. You’ll be shocked to see that the EMT carrying the donor heart tripped. In an instant, the heart went on flying across the hospital floor, and soon, it landed in the mouth of a golden retriever.

Why Did Murray Dislike The Scene So Much?

Not only did Murray break down, but he even shared a logical explanation for why the dog was in the hospital to begin with. He described how the dog had supposedly eaten marijuana and was bizarrely brought here instead of a vet. What’s odd is that the hospital staff strangely left the dog to wait there instead of taking any action. And that’s the point from where Murray started to lose interest in such an illogical scene.

Murray decided to take the storyline a step further and even pointed out that the dog owners were apparently down with pot brownies, too. And, they were probably not in their senses either. But that dog wasn’t the only weird part of the scene, and there was probably a patient just hanging around the ER instead of being in the operating room. And the worst part was that Lucas just stood there and witnessed everything.

While One Tree Hill gave us many heartfelt and dramatic scenes to look back on, there’s hardly one that will top this off anytime soon.
