The saga of the Roy family is coming to an end. HBO will not proceed with ‘Succession‘ with the upcoming fourth season being the show’s last dance. Jesse Armstrong, the show’s creator, came out with the news during a new interview. The Emmy-winning showrunner will no longer make ‘Succession‘ for more seasons.
Jesse Armstrong believes now is the time to go. He has plans to drag on the show for another 4-5 seasons. While he would love to create a spin-off series, the bosses at HBO have shown no intent on pursuing other ‘Succession‘ projects in the near future, and in the New Yorker interview opened up on feeling how season 4 would be the perfect place to end the show.

HBO Series’ Succession’ To End After Season 4
Jesse Armstrong told The New Yorker about the departure of the Emmy-winning series ‘Succession‘ after season 4, saying, “It’s been a bit tortured, and I felt unexpectedly nervous about talking to you because it’s all theoretical until this point, and I have tried to keep it theoretical for a whole number of reasons.”
“Who knows about the psychological reasons, but the creative ones were that it felt really useful to not make the final, final decision for ages. You know, there’s a promise in the title of ‘Succession.’ I’ve never thought this could go on forever.” he added.

Could There Be A ‘Succession’ Spin-Off?
Jesse Armstrong remains “conflicted” with the idea of saying goodbye to the show, saying, “I feel sad, and I have the-circus-has-left-town feeling that everyone gets who works on a production that’s good, and this one particularly so.”
“I imagine I’ll be a little bit lonely, and wandering the streets of London in a funk, and wondering, What the f–k did I do? I’ll probably call you in about six months to ask if people are ready for a reboot.” He adds wistfully.
While Jesse Armstrong loves the idea of exploring a particular character’s story on ‘Succession,’ HBO doesn’t share this enthusiasm. HBO chief Casey Bloys has officially announced the network won’t be pursuing any such spin-offs, with the upcoming season being the final chapter in the book of ‘Succession.’
Created by Jesse Armstrong, ‘Succession‘ follows the inner domestic turmoils of the Roys family, known for controlling the world’s most extensive media and entertainment company. Season 4 would have seen the Roy family being split into different camps following the sale of Waystar Royco to the eccentric tech genius Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård).
