“There’s Only So Much High School Drama You Can Deal With”: Zendaya Confirms ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Will Have A Big Time Jump

With the success of Euphoria, season 3 has high expectations. The show captivated the audience with the raw portrayal of teenage life, mental health, and substance abuse. Although all specific plot details are kept behind the curtains, Zendaya, who portrays Rue in the series, revealed what we can expect from season 3.

Zendaya shared that the show will have a major time jump in the upcoming season as there was much high school drama in the previous seasons. The makers would love to focus on other expectations and more character development.

The shooting for season 3 of the show will begin next January. Zendaya alongside Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer told Entertainment Weekly‘s The Awardist podcast that time jump was the most appropriate thing for the show. “It’s important because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with,” she said. “And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!” Zendaya added.

The actors and the crew don’t have any idea about the upcoming season other than the time jump aspect. But, they are all excited.

“I don’t actually know much about what is happening. I don’t quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening,” she added.

The time jump is completely valid because it would display the adulthood struggles and character development. The characters will face the real world apart from the high school drama. ‘Euphoria’ season 2 finale ended with Rue closing the monologue in the past tense, reflecting about staying sober for the rest of the school year, indicating that she’s talking from a time in the future.

The main cast of the series will return for season 3 with Zendaya as Rue Bennet, Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie, Alexa Demie as Maddy Pere, and Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs. Sadly, the fresco ‘Fez’ portrayed by Angus Cloud will not return to the show as he passed away in 2023. Katie’s character will also depart as Barbie Ferreira confirmed leaving the show in 2022.

There’s no point in continuing the chaotic drama anyway. Seeing the characters in the outside world is what the audience expects to see from the show now.
