How Does The Episode End?
In the latest episode, Makima is traveling on a train to Kyoto to meet some people. They are termed ‘bigwigs’ and to the fans’ confusion and curiosity, Makima finds them intimidating.
Makima is traveling with other public safety division officers and mentions to one of them that she is hungry and wishes to buy food at the Kyoto station, but at the same time reassures them that she will be hungry enough to join them for lunch.
As she is traveling, the train enters a tunnel. As soon as the train enters the tunnel, two behind Makima and two in front of her grab their guns and open fire. Makima gets caught in the crossfire and gets shot in the head.
In the end, Makima is shown to be slumped over in her seat with blood all around her and a bullet wound in her forehead. The assassins are shown standing around and whispering on their radio. Fans are curious to see if Makima dies here.
Does Makima Truly Die?
To simply answer the question, Makima does not die in this episode. Despite being shot in the head, Makima returns to the series, safe and sound. Episode 8 covers 22, 23, and 24 of the manga, and Makima returns in chapter 26 of the manga, it is speculated that Makima will return in episode 9 itself.
In chapter 26 of the manga, the assassins are cleaning up after the aftermath of the open fire when Makima suddenly stands upright which scared and shocked those assassins.
Afterward, Makima is seen stepping off at the Kyoto station to meet two devil hunters and she seems perfectly fine. The two assassins however have holes in their chests which was probably the doing of Makima herself.
This is equally good and bad news for the anime viewers, as the people who like Makima are thrilled to see her alive whilst the people who do not like her are not very happy with her return.
