The ‘Naruto‘ anime depicts the ups and downs of being in a ninja world. On the one hand, it can be entertaining to manipulate fire, walk on water, or deceive others with doppelgangers. However, ninja life can also be very ruthless when it comes to conflict, grief, and making difficult choices.
Many characters in the series have dealt with sad backstories that helped define who they were, whether they liked it or not, as a result of all the violence and struggle that comes with being a ninja.

Who Is Hatake Kakashi?
Kakashi developed a strict code of behavior after witnessing his father commit suicide because he failed to save his allies on a mission. He started prioritizing the life of his comrades above everything. Kakashi modified the infamous bell exercise solely to teach the young shinobi the importance of teamwork.
Kakashi is one of the most liked characters in the anime world. He wears a mask but is still considered one of the most attractive characters in ‘Naruto‘. The reason why fans seem to like Kakashi is not because of his looks or physical features, they like him because of his personality.
Kakashi undoubtedly has one of the saddest backstories in the anime, but he did not turn evil. He did not hide behind his tragic past to commit atrocities. What makes Kakashi likable is his strong will and his morals.
What Is Kakashi’s Back Story?
Many characters in Naruto have a sad and tragic past. Kakashi however, has a sadder past. He lost everyone he cared about and he still had the strength to smile and teach young Shinobi.
Kakashi’s father, Hatake Sakomo was referred to as “The white fang of the Hidden Leaf” . He was highly regarded and idolized in the Hidden Leaf village, especially by Kakashi, and was well renowned as one of the toughest ninjas.
Sakumo had broken the law of the village by forgoing a task to save a colleague, upsetting the community. Even the comrades he had saved turned their backs on him because he was held responsible for everything. This animosity caused Sakumo a great deal of suffering up until the day he committed suicide. It was him who discovered his father’s body.
During his first mission as a Jonin, Rin of his teammates got captured and Kakashi and Obito went to save her. Kakashi lost his eye trying to save Rin and was almost crushed by a falling boulder. At the last minute, Kakashi was pushed by Obito, and Obito himself got crushed by the rock. As a last wish, Obito gave Kakashi his ye and made him promise that he would take care of Rin.
After that Rin got captured again. To protect the village from facing the wrath of a tiled beast inside her, Rin jumped in front of Kakashi’s Chidori which killed her. This traumatized him and he stopped interacting with his peers altogether fearing that he would lose the people he started caring about. Later, Minato and Kushina were killed in the nine-tailed attack on their village and Kakashi effectively lost every person he cared about.
Despite all the bad fortune that befell him, he did not turn evil or do any atrocious activities. Kakashi has the saddest back story in ‘Naruto ‘ and he is also one of the strongest characters in the anime.
