The ‘Dragon Ball‘ franchise is filled with many strong individuals. Both protagonists and antagonists. Each individual has varying power and skills and it’s a pleasure to be able to watch such a plethora of strong individuals. The way they train to exercise and increase these powers is another thing to watch.
One of the many individuals that fans are very interested in is Goten and Gohan, Goku’s two sons. Gohan is the elder one and Goten is the younger one. It is a heated debate amongst the fans regarding who is more powerful between the two. Let’s address this debate.
Who Are Gohan And Goten?
Gohan is Son Goku’s elder child. He was born before Goku was able to unlock much of his potential. Gohan by his nature is a gentle and studious child. He is half Saiyan as he is the child of a human and a Saiyan. Gohan’s potential was shown in his fight against Buu.
Gohan does not like to fight, unlike his father. He only fights when his family or loved ones are in danger and he has to protect them. However his disinterest in fighting does not mean that he is not powerful, Gohan is extremely powerful and had unlocked Super Saiyan in his teenage years.
Goten is the younger child of Goku and Chi-Chi. He, like his brother, is a half-Saiyan. Goten takes after his father more than his brother did. As a child, he is the spitting image of young Goku.
Like his father, he is fun-loving and adventurous. He is quite polite and had not met his father till he turned seven. Similar to his brother, Goten likes to live like a normal teenager and has shown more interest in girls and bikes rather than fighting.
Who Is More Powerful?
This is a very difficult question to answer. Both Goten and Gohan have a potential that could rival their fathers. Goten’s true potential was shown when he turned into a super Saiyan at the age of 7, making him the youngest ever Super Saiyan. Gohan however displayed his abilities during the Buu arc when he unlocked Super Saiyan 2 and surpassed both Vegeta and Goku.
Some people argue that when Goten was born, Goku had already unlocked the Super Saiyan form and that Goten’s DNA was already accustomed to the alteration which made it easy for him to unlock the form. On the other hand, Gohan had received strict training and had been fighting since the start with his father, and Goten had not. However, he was still able to unlock his Super Saiyan form.
But if the answer has to come from the present power level, Gohan is the stronger sibling currently. He has unlocked more forms than his brother and has assisted his father in many fights. However, the future is uncertain and Goten may overtake his brother and become more powerful as ‘Dragon Ball‘ continues.
