    Top 10 Romance Anime

Anybody can be moved to tears by a beautiful romance, and anime is one of the few animation mediums that do them justice. Numerous romance anime, ranging from funny to poignant and sorrowful, have been depicted through Japanese animation over the years.

Romance fans can struggle to choose the ideal show to watch from among the thousands of options available. Thankfully, there are a few excellent romantic anime series that stand out from the crowd.

    10. Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku

    Love is Hard for Otaku

There are a few anime outliers, but teen romances frequently take center stage. Workplace comedy ‘Love is Hard for Otaku’ centers on two couples: newlyweds Hirotaka Nifuji and Narumi Momose and longtime partners Tarou Kabakura and Hanako Koyanagi. While the sitcom focuses more on humor than romance, the former is depicted pretty convincingly because the former pair dominate the show for the most part.

Narumi never thought of Hirotaka as a possible romantic partner despite the fact that they were childhood friends, and this ambivalence persisted throughout the duration of the show. Despite being a fun ride, Love is Hard for Otaku unfortunately only skims the surface of these relationships due to its condensed length.

    9. Maid Sama

    Maid Sama

The male lead is too perfect, the “strong” female protagonist is frequently reduced to a damsel, and a love triangle is presented without rhyme or reason—‘Maid Sama!’ is riddled with tropes that would sink a lesser romantic anime. Despite a few minor distinctive aspects, the anime more than makes up for its flaws with pure individuality.

The focus of ‘Maid Sama!‘ is the romance between man-hating student council president Misaki Ayuzawa and heartthrob Takumi Usui. As she juggles her hectic schedules at home, job, and school, Ayuzawa is much more disciplined than Takumi, who often takes things in stride. Takumi seizes the chance to get to know Ayuzawa on a different level as he finds out that she works in a maid cafe.

    8. Sing “Yesterday” For Me

    Sing “Yesterday” for Me

When compared to other anime, ‘Sing “Yesterday” for Me’s portrayal of romance as a realistic experience is immensely refreshing. At the show’s conclusion, it also takes the traditional love triangle and runs with it in an unexpected route. The conclusion, which we won’t reveal here, is immensely fulfilling and demonstrates how sometimes shattered romances may still result in lasting friendships.

Yoshiyuki Fujiwara, the director of well-known anime like ‘Attack on Titan‘ and ‘Sword Art Online‘, even directed it. It’s incredible to watch him transition so deftly to a show that presents itself very differently from his other work.

    7. Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai

Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai

In ‘Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai‘, romance is both the least prominent and best aspect of the story. The main character of the anime is Sakuta Azusagawa, a high school student who merely has a knack for spotting ladies who have Adolescence Syndrome, a condition that makes their fears obvious.

Although the series is divided into several arcs starring several girls, the first one centered on Mai Sakurajima, an actress who develops a deep bond with Sakuta, is the most compelling. The chemistry between Sakuta and Mai is hot with affection, warmth, and wit. Their relationship develops nicely throughout the remaining arcs, despite not frequently being the main focus, and culminates in a satisfying feature film sequel.

    6. Kimi Ni Todoke

    Kimi ni Todoke

The popular Shouta Kazehaya and the incredibly shy Sawako Kuronuma create a sweet friendship in ‘Kimi ni Todoke‘. Sawako is an outcast in her school and is made fun of for looking like Sadako from The Ring. The girl needs a lot of encouragement to emerge from her cocoon. Kazehaya, fortunately, is the perfect person for the job.

The characters in ‘Kimi ni Todoke‘ are all well-written and undergo change as the story goes along. It’s a funny and endearing tale. Like much romantic anime, ‘Kimi ni Todoke‘ drags out the confusion scene a bit too much, but the journey is still fascinating.

    5. Clannad

    Clannad

The two parts of this anime are called ‘Clannad’ and ‘After Story’. Although the latter is far superior to the former, watching ‘Clannad‘ is necessary to fully appreciate After Story. Although there are plenty of supporting characters in this drama, Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa’s narrative ultimately takes center stage, and it is a compelling one.

Clannad After Story‘, in contrast to many romantic television shows, is set after Tomoya and Nagisa graduate from high school and demonstrates their personal and romantic development. The anime is sincere in exploring the universal struggles that many people face, and it does not sugarcoat anything.

    4. Horimiya

    Horimiya

The popularity of ‘Horimiya‘ among anime fans led to it becoming the most-watched romantic comedy debut of all time. It was among the best anime of the Winter 2021 season and will unquestionably continue to be discussed in relation to contemporary anime for some time.

This program represents the epitome of the sayings “opposites attract” and “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Izumi and Kyouko initially seem like they wouldn’t get along, but as they gradually open up to one another, they realize how ideal a match they are. It is the ideal movie to see because it features both funny and touching moments.

    3. Your Lie In April

    Your Lie in April

Kousei Arima and Kaori Miyazono are two musical prodigies who are the subjects of one of the most well-known romance anime, ‘Your Lie in April‘. Kousei needs to leave the performing arts since he has depression and has lost his love for the piano as a result of his mother’s demise. The boy’s love of music is rekindled when he sees Kaori play her violin one day with such abandon. Kousei develops feelings for the girl as well.

Grief, life, love, and music are all themes in Your Lie in April. Kousei must endure a tough, protracted, and heartbreaking road toward self-healing. However, he also encounters joy, tenderness, and beauty along the way.

    2. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

    Kaguya-sama: Love is War

This anime demonstrates that everything is fair in love and war. Instead of a traditional romance anime, Miyuki and Kaguya try to coerce each other into confessing their love by using their superior brains and abilities. Both parties do not want to lose and be viewed as inferior to one another.

There are plenty of heartwarming moments that will make viewers squeal with laughter, in addition to their hilarious experiences running the student council at a prestigious school with their friends. In spite of the majority of the new episodes’ comedic undertones, ‘Kaguya-sama: Love is War‘s third season gradually increased the amount of time spent focusing on the romance between Miyuki and Kaguya while also addressing other romances. The third season of the anime premiered in the spring of 2022.

    1. Fruit Basket

    Fruits Basket

It’s difficult to dislike ‘Fruits Basket‘ because it’s such a charming and harmless shojo classic. It’s one of the best romance anime ever made. Although she is almost too kind, Tohru Honda is a likable protagonist, and this is all part of her character growth. She lived in a tent outside the Sohma estate after her mother passed away until a typhoon made her homeless. Fortunately, she was taken in and given a home by the Sohmas.

She finds out about the family curse and is drawn into the drama of the clan, but she is just happy to have met so many interesting people. Since many of the Sohmas came from abusive families, Tohru became a source of healing for them, and her romance with Kyo is flawless. ‘Fruits Basket’ is inspirational, but it will send viewers on an emotional whirlwind.
