‘Dragon Ball Super‘ is gaining popularity as more episodes are being released. The franchise has been running for over 20 years and it is showing no signs of decreasing popularity. The fans are extremely excited for new enemies to be unveiled, new Saiyan forms, and more.
One of the most exciting things that happen in the anime is the attaining of the super Saiyan God form. Goku and Vegeta both were able to transform into this form, but they did so differently. Goku required six Saiyans, including Vegeta to transform, but that was not the case for Vegeta. Let’s find out why.

What Is Super Saiyan God?
The Super Saiyan God transformation provides any Saiyan with Godly Ki, essentially turning them into a god. This transformation initially required six Saiyans, but Vegeta obtained the form without this.
A Super Saiyan god is a legendary form as before Goku, there was only one user. That user, a Saiyan, donned this form and killed the evil Saiyans, but he was unable to kill every bad Saiyan due to the time constraint this form poses.
The physical appearance of the user changes as their skin attains a pinkish hue and their hair color changes to a shade of red. Goku has magenta hair while Vegeta has red. The irises of the Saiyan’s eyes also turn red.
Why Did Goku Require Six Saiyans And Vegeta Did Not?
There is a ritual that one needs to follow if one wishes to attain the super Saiyan God form. There should be six Saiyans present, five to perform the ritual and the sixth to channel Ki into the chosen Saiyan.
The six Saiyans hold hands and channel all their energy as Super Saiyans into the chosen Saiyan. There would be a blue aura appearing around the circle indicating that it is working. The chosen Saiyan will have a reddish hue around them and appear as a shadow figure but will then re-appear. They will reappear in the Super Saiyan god form. This is how Goku became a Super Saiyan god.
Vegeta however did not perform the ritual. He learned the mechanics of unlocking the form when he and Goku were training inside Whis’s staff. The pocket dimension that exists inside Whis’s staff is filled with so much god Ki that Goku and Vegeta were unable to move until they learned to keep their Ki inside their bodies.
The Super Saiyan god form requires the user to channel god Ki within themselves and Goku achieved the god Ki through the ritual. But Vegeta got an abundance of God Ki inside the staff. However, he was not able to completely achieve the form as he and Goku were interrupted in their training. He first showed his transformation in the fight against dark Goku. This is the reason why Goku required six Saiyans to transform into Super Saiyan God and Vegeta did not.
