‘Kaichou Wa Maid Sama’ is one of the most popular romance anime of all time. It is quite popular not only among young girls but in the entire anime community. Fans especially love the characters of the show and find them quite relatable. Fans are however not sure about their feelings about one character and that is Sakuya Ayuzawa, Misaki’s father.

Who Is Sakuya Ayuzawa?
Ayuzawa Sakuya is the absentee father of Misaki and Suzuna Ayuzawa. He is also the reason for Misaki’s deep hatred for men as he left his family with a great debt. He left the family when Misaki was quite young and returned after a long time.
Personality-wise, Sakuya is very cheerful and bright. He reminds people of a very over-energized puppy with his naivety and his innocence. Sakuya is quite childish and immature, and he calls people by nicknames. According to most fans, his attitude is not fit for a father. Despite how it seems, Sakuya loves his family very much and never wanted to be apart from them. After returning after a long time, he started working in Maid Latte, the same cafe where Misaki works and where Usui sometimes acted as the chef.
When he first returned to Japan, he went to Maid Latte and encountered Aoi. He had long hair and an unkept beard and seemed like a beggar. However, after cleaning up, he is quite good-looking. He has short hair and big eyes that Misaki inherited. In addition to that, he has a smile on his face most of the time.
Why Did He Leave His Family?
Misaki’s mother told her and her sister that their father was a drunk gambler. She said that he left because he gambled away all of his fortune and didn’t want to return to their family. However, that is a lie. Sakuya Ayuzawa never wanted to abandon his family and loved the three of them very much.
He left the family because his friend left a huge debt on him and his family. To repay that debt, he uses up all of his fortune, which led to the current living state of the Ayuzawa family. He left the family because he wanted to look for his friend and wanted to knock some sense into him. It took him many years to find him and when Sakuya Ayuzawa finally found him, he punched him. Unfortunately, the friend had already begun a family of his own and didn’t want to return to Japan.
Sakuya Ayuzawa traveled abroad to repay all of the debt. He returned to Japan in hopes of making it up to his wife and daughters and slept on benches and sidewalks on many nights. Misaki’s mom lied to them because she wasn’t sure that he would ever return and didn’t want her daughters to miss him. This is why Sakuya Ayuzawa has to leave his family.
