Who Is Shigaraki Tomura?
Tomura’s real name is Tenko Shimura. Shigaraki was first introduced in the USJ Arc of the anime and was introduced quite early in the series. He is the main villain and antagonist in the series and has proven many times why he is the most feared villain.
Shigaraki is the leader of the league of villains. He is also the disciple of All For One, the man who was once defeated by All Might. Shigaraki Tomura trained and studied under him and One For All gave him the goal of killing All Might. By doing so, society would be disrupted and heroes could be defeated.
Shigaraki ultimately inherited the quirk from his master and became even stronger. All For One tried to merge himself with Shigaraki but he managed to push him aside. Shigaraki also grew his organization from the league of villains to the Paranormal Liberation Front by merging with the meta liberation army and recruiting more villains.
Why Did Shigaraki Kill His Family?
Ever since he was young, Tomura Shigaraki was constantly abused by his father. He originally wanted to grow up and be a hero, but his father’s abuse crushed that dream of his. Contrary to what fans might believe, Shigaraki killed his family by accident.
Unaware of how his quirk worked, Shigaraki touched his dog who died. His sister and mother tried helping him and wanted to know what was wrong with him. As nobody was aware of how his quirk worked, Shigaraki touched both his sister and his mother and that led to their deaths.
His father, however, is a whole different story. After his mother and sister died, Shigaraki understood the working of his quirk to some extent and was crushed by despair. He wished to punish his father for all the abuse he endured and with the intention of harming and destroying his father, he touched him. This is why he killed his father.
Some fans believe that subconsciously Tomura Shigaraki was aware of his quirk and the destruction he caused. His family never stood up for him when he was abused and fans speculate that he killed them consciously as revenge or for a twisted sense of justice.
