Aaron Sorkin is a name synonymous with quick dialogues and sharp storytelling abilities. He has been writing films, shows, and plays for more than three decades now and is aware of all the nuances of scriptwriting.

On Wednesday, Sorkin appeared at the Adobe Summit 2023 to talk about whether artificial intelligence can write screenplays for us. “No. I don’t [think AI could write The West Wing] because — here’s what I assume has happened,” the ‘Molley’s Game‘ director said.

He added, “Whether it’s that, there’s roughly the same kind of software for writing a hit song, I assume that they have loaded into a machine a zillion very successful screenplays, whether they’re thrillers or Westerns or romantic comedies.”

Sorkin further said: “And a computer can then turn out something similar, but a computer didn’t write those screenplays that are being fed into the machine in the first place. And I think you’re going to enjoy things done by humans more.”

Recently, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter revealed that he experienced a medical emergency in 2022. He said that he suffered a stroke in November while he was writing ‘Camelot‘. It was his first broadway musical.

His high blood pressure caused a stroke and his doctor told him, “you’re supposed to be dead.” “Mostly it was a loud wake-up call,” Sorkin said. “I thought I was one of those people who could eat whatever he wanted, smoke as much as he wanted, and it’s not going to affect me. Boy, was I wrong.”

Subsequently, he quit smoking and has been doing well since then. Some of his writing credits include, ‘A Few Good Men’, ‘The Social Network’, ‘The West Wing‘ and ‘Moneyball.’
