Celebrity pets have evolved to become a trend over time, with many in the industry showing off their furry friends. Lily Allen, however, seemingly did not have an experience as pleasant as the others with a dog she adopted from a shelter.
The actress recently revealed that she had to return the canine after the menace it created in her household. She also revealed that the dog, whom she named Mary, ate all their family passports because of which her children couldn’t meet their father. Lily Allen Recalls Being Extremely Angry At Her Dog
British singer and Actress Lily Allen lost her cool when her dog ate all of their passports and important documents during the peak pandemic. The incident prevented her children from meeting their father her ex-husband Sam Copper, who was living in London at the time.
Sadly, she had to return the puppy to the dog shelter from where she adopted it. In the recent podcast of Miss Me with host Steve Jones, Allen opened up about the incident. “We actually did adopt a dog together already,” she said on the podcast. “But then it ate my passport, and so I took her back to the home,” she added.
Lily got frustrated as it became difficult for her to get the documents replaced which also cost her a fortune. “She ate all three of our passports, and they had our visas. Because it was in Covid, and so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare,” she said during the podcast.
The most devastating part of this was that her children couldn’t see their father. Allen lived with her children in New York and their father lived in England. After the passports were destroyed, she had to take them down because she had not met their father for four to five months. “I just couldn’t look at her,” she admitted, adding, “I felt like saying, ‘You ruined my life.'”

Despite Lily Allen’s Training Attempts, Her Dog Was Rudely Behaved
Lily Allen further noted that passports weren’t the only thing that were destroyed. She asserted that despite her training the dog, it was ill-behaved. “She was a very badly behaved dog,” the 39-year-old said. “The passports were the last straw”. She candidly admitted that it was too much to handle.
Although the actress never specified which dog ate the passports according to the details shared by Daily Mail Report, Allen adopted a puppy named Mary from a charity, Animal Haven, based in New York City, in 2021. The singer also created a separate dog account to post the pictures of the dog, but she stopped posting abruptly later.
About the new passport, she’s using her ex-husband’s surname for now even after the divorce. Allen hasn’t changed the surname of her children as well, stating that “it’s hard to travel with children if you haven’t got the same surname.”
